Steps On the Journey | | |
College of Spirituality
Spring Quarter Begins, May 16
The Spring Quarter of the College of Spirituality offers wonderful opportunities for spiritual growth and encounter. These offerings enrich our lives and help bring balance to our week as we connect with others and grow in our faith. This quarter you may
- discover how God has gifted you and calls you to act as a follower of Jesus
- join early followers of the Way in a lively, highly participatory class on the Book of Acts
- make your own transformative, inner pilgrimage for spiritual growth and self-discovery as we make sacred journey, together
These classes are beginning the week of Monday, May 16 and the week following. If you are among the many who've attended a class or more, these will be wonderful opportunities to continue the steps forward. If you have yet to experience a class, this may be a great quarter to make eight weeks of intentional journey. Sign-up is made easy by contacting Jeremy at the Church Office, or you may visit the table in the fellowship hall with the registration sheet. Additional details about classes offered can be found here. This is a great time for a new beginning. Let's make it, together!

Piano Music at
Mount Saint Vincent Nursing Home | | |
On April 4, 2011, David Nichols, organist at University Congregational Church and husband of APCC member Sharon Nichols, made beautiful music for the residents of Mount Saint Vincent, including Bob Brock, a long-time member of APCC. Other APCC members present were Bob's wife Berlena Brock, Sharon Nichols, John Sabol and Paul McDevitt.
The idea for this musical afternoon program was due to David Nichols' donation of piano music to the silent auction for the Community Supper Program at APCC, of which John Sabol and Paul McDevitt were the successful bidders. The residents of Mount Saint Vincent enjoyed the music and sang along. What a joy to see! Thank you David!

Update on Tuan | | |
Sponsor Child of John Sabol and Paul McDevitt
We would like to give everyone at APCC an update on our sponsor child, Tuan. Many of you have been praying for Tuan and have asked us how things were going. After a year of planning, Tuan finally had an operation on one of his ears. (He will have an operation on the other ear sometime in June.)
We woke up Good Friday morning to find a short note of thanks from Tuan. He said, "I am very happy that my first operation was successful. Now my hearing ability is much better. I will go to Hue in a few days for my check-up and I hope that everything will be better. I will not feel very shy when people call me "Deaf Tuan" anymore. I feel very confident to communicate with my friends and others."
Tuan also indicated that the operation was able to restore 60% of his hearing. After the second operation Tuan will then be fitted for hearing aides and his hearing will be improved even more.
We want to thank everyone at APCC for your support and prayers in what seemed to be a never-ending struggle to help Tuan. We asked God what he was trying to teach us over the last year and finally realized it was Faith. We just had to stop worrying about things we had no control over. God was in control, as always!
In Christ's Love,
John & Paul |
