U.S. News and World Report recently ran a story about Joe Sheffy, a 23-year-old Kansas man with down syndrome and autism who owns his own business and lives in his own home. I wanted to know how his parents were able to make this dream possible, because at age 14, the school district told them Joe would never work or live independently.
