Greetings!
|
No matter how old we are, the back-to-school time gets us in the mood to "get our learn on." (When I worked at The Literacy Council years ago, one of our students said he had to get his learn on and I latched on to the phrase.)
One of my greatest joys is learning. I revel in new ideas, learning that I like a new food, seeing a new place, meeting new people, trying new activities.
I am not a thrill seeker and my "news" are not earth-shattering. Last summer I learned I loved kayaking. This summer I learned I could indeed climb a mountain. Thanks to Prince Charming, my palate is learning new food combinations. (I was in college when I learned the difference between cauliflower and broccoli, so my food world has lots of room for expansion.)
Stretching and growing is a big part of how happy you feel. People who feel stagnant would probably not rate their happiness level very high. People whose eyes have opened to the great big world of wonderful possibilities experience more joy in daily life.
One of the most important things you can learn is that you are in control of your life, your choices, your happiness.
What is that you have always wanted to learn? What interests you? What did you used to enjoy doing when you were a child?
Your joy assignment is two-fold. First, find a community college or organization or person in your area that does what you are interested in. If no class or workshop is currently offered, ask for a private class.
Secondly, turn off the television this week. Pursue learning by being a student of life. Think, read, write, walk, wander, create. Tune in to you and ask yourself what you would like to learn this fall. Maybe you just need to learn that you are a pretty cool person.
This back-to-school time is back-to-you time. Get your learn on. There are no lessons more important.
Words to Ponder:
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. ~Albert Einstein

New Learning Opportunities - "JOY A.D." |
JOY A.D. (After Divorce)
Yes, it is possible to have joy after the pain and emotions of divorce. Whether you have been unmarried twenty years, two years, recently divorced or in the process, (or contemplating it now), this workshop is a place to start the true deep healing.
Fear of the unknown future. Guilt. Anger. Loss of self-esteem. Confusion. Highs and lows. Numbness. Fatigue. Anxiety. Depression. "I'm not as good at being alone as I thought I would be". It's all normal.
If you are ready to let go of that and reach out for something more, join us in a safe, healing, confidential environment. You absolutely deserve to be happy. You absolutely deserve to be healed.
JOY A.D. is about honoring your mind, your body, and your spirit (no religious affiliation). You can learn to take the reins of your own happiness, one day at a time. Some days, one minute at a time.
Facilitator Kelly Epperson, founder of Happiness Club of Loves Park, divorced after twenty years of marriage, believes that when we feel lost and empty and alone is when we find our true selves. Life is a journey and for some us, divorce is part of the evolution of who we were meant to be. Painful as it may be, it is the beginning of a blossoming.
If you are ready to bloom, join this healing workshop. You absolutely deserve to feel fully alive. You absolutely deserve to know JOY A.D.
Workshop includes presentation, discussion, handouts, take-home materials, private and confidential sharing with likeminded women, and of course, chocolate.
You will go home with techniques to use when the blues and doubts seem overwhelming. Let this one evening be a jumpstart to your joy.

Sometimes the most important part of learning is knowing when to ask for support. Investing in yourself always brings a high rate of return. Never be afraid to get your learn on, especially when it comes to your joy.
