Greetings!

Surrounding yourself with joy does not have to be a Monumental Task. It should be the opposite.

First step, get rid of the clutter and crap that populates your living space. You will be amazed at the feeling of lightness that comes over you when you see countertops, desk tops, and bedroom floors.

Next, only allow things into your space that are useful or that you find beautiful. The interior decorators and the self-help gurus agree on that one.

Thirdly, pay attention to all your senses. Visual is a biggee. When you scan the room, do you like what you see? You can make your kitchen or your cubicle a haven of joy.

Hearing - when possible fill your head with sounds that soothe or invigorate, whatever you need at the time. Music, birds, bubbling fountains, humming to yourself. Smell - candles, sachets, your own cologne. You want your world to smell good. Taste - When you eat, pay attention. Chew. Taste the flavors. Savor. If you are eating merely to fuel your body, also take the time to eat yummy healthy food. Touch - I like the feel of my desktop. I like the feel of my sheets. I like the feel of my towel. If yours is scratchy, trade it in.

You get the idea. Little things mean a lot. I can give entire workshops on this topic, but suffice that you can start right now and do one small thing to improve your surroundings. It will uplift you. Promise.

Words to Ponder:
Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
William Morris

Color WheelWhat brings me Joy lately....

  •  being a part of the filming of the lip dub video for Rosie's Bday Club - it will debut soon. Mark your calendars for Sept 15 for the fundraiser event at Cliffbreakers. Rosie's provides birthday gifts for kids that otherwise would not get one. (I get to be a Cake Baker Sidekick. You know the JOY cake is gonna rock it!)
  • being a part of a book that will also debut in September called Smart Women Live Their Why. Each contributor shares an essay. Limiting myself to 2000 words was hard! I know this book will inspire you! More details soon.
  • being a part of a weekly movement, called Live The JOY. Actually it's a daily thing. I thank you for joining me on this journey.

What brings YOU joy??
Send in your stories for a compilation book to come out end of the year. Anything goes. One liners, essays, and anything in between. Send in NOW! And yes, you can submit more than once! THANKS for spreading the joy.

You are sending in great stuff!  Short shots, essays, poems. Loving it all. THANK YOU! Keep 'em coming!

Also - everyone who has sent in something, or will send in something, send in a short two or three line bio of yourself. Silly or serious, mention how you happened upon your own joy journey and whatever else you want to share.  Muchas thankas!

 Her joy props:

"One of the things that brings JOY to me is my cubicle. See:

Art - on these walls a picture of my brother rock climbing and an abstract in joyful colors

Fresh Flowers - every Monday

Coffee Cup - from my grandson

Magic Wand - to solve the impossible problems"
