Sun! It has returned!
Driving with the windows down is the official sign of spring.
Here in the midwest, we have a word for the emotion that comes with spring: Yay. Washing the windows at home, doing yard work, washing cars in the driveway....spring has sprung. (I have not done those things, but I seen my neighbors.)
I have cruised in the joy mobile with the windows down and enjoyed drinks at the outdoor bistro and walked the park. I am starting to think about flowers....
No matter where you live or what your climate, I hope you have several yay occasions this week.
Be yourself.
That way you never have to remember who you are.

Joy = Kids |
the wisdom of kids
Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other.
Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough. -- Lynnette, age 8

What brings me joy lately?
* being the keynote speaker for child care worker annual recognition banquet - u rock.
* drinks with chicks
* all the ideas firing in my brain

Quote Junkie |
"Poetry is, above all, a singing art of natural and magical connection because, though it is born out of one's person's solitude, it has the ability to reach out and touch in a humane and warmly illuminating way the solitude, even the loneliness, of others.
That is why, to me, poetry is one of the most vital treasures that humanity possesses; it is a bridge between separated souls."
~Irish poet Brendan Kennelly

Joy = Never Give Up |
The video of Britain's Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle is showing up in my inbox a lot and I just watched last night at a friend's house. Yep, Susan has talent. And the song is I've Got a Dream from Les Mis. How poetic.

From Cowboy Logic, Kinky Friedman, 2006 (ISBN 978-0-312-33156-6)
Courtesy is owed. Respect is earned. Love is given.
Only two kinds of people wear cowboy hats: cowboys and assholes.
It takes a real dumbass not to understand the value of an education.
Every journey of a thousand miles begins with a cash advance.
You're born alone and you die alone, so you might as well get used to it.
Piece of advice: Never eat a sandwich bigger than your head.
Atheist tombstone: All dressed up and no place to go.
Only write for those who can read between the lines.

tune playing at the moment:
I believe there comes a time when everything just falls in line
We live and learn from our mistakes
the deepest cuts are healed by faith
"All Fired Up" Pat Benatar |
Jump for joy. Sing for joy. Shake your booty for joy. Hug somebody, kiss somebody, smile at somebody, be kind to somebody. Spread the joy.
