Greetings!

Sara's PhotoAre you a "list person"? Most likely you are or you know several people who are. Lists can serve a purpose if you actually look at them and use them. This month's feature article discusses a fun and unique way you can use a list- a list idea that puts feet to your dreams!

Do you want to increase your knowledge of the "green" industry, or get some ideas for how to reduce energy costs at home? In the spotlight this month is Lisa Ruder who has immersed herself in learning about green sustainability for home and business life. I asked her to share her experience and advice with you.

Go Confidently!

Make Your Dreams Come True Using a "20 Things" List

Make a list of 20 things you really would like to do, accomplish, or experience in the next year (things that are attainable in a relatively short period of time, even if you need to break a larger goal into smaller chunks). Set out to complete your list before a certain date and consider connecting it to something memorable like a birthday or other special date.

So, if you could do 20 things in the next year what would they be? Make your dreams come to fruition one step at a time. After all, putting feet to your dreams is what makes your dreams a reality. Allow yourself to enjoy the experience of fulfilling each item on your list- not just when you check it off.

I'll start my list and see if it generates any ideas for you!
1) Ride in a hot air balloonReach your Dreams
2) Complete my e-book
3) Take a kickboxing class again
4) Redecorate/design my home office
5) Travel to New York and see a Broadway show
.....
Let's talk about your 20 things! I can help you create your list and be sure that it reflects what you really want to accomplish and experience in your life.

Spotlight: Go Green!

Lisa Ruder, "Green" Sustainability Consultant

1) What is it like entering the green industry at this time in the world?
There is so much going on in the world of sustainability: renewable energy in the form of solar, bio fuels, wind; energy efficiency; water use reduction; stimulus money for green jobs training and more.

2) What are the advantages and challenges you have encountered so far?  I feel I have picked a perfect field for me since it takes advantage of my technical background combined with the reality that the green industry is still emerging and people are not expecting 5-10 years of experience for their applicants. They are looking for a person who is able to learn quickly and communicate effectively.

When discussing sustainability issues there is a great deal of educating to do. For example, some people think that constructing a more sustainable building or home as more expensive, when the reality is minimal increase in cost and huge savings in the operational cost of the structure.

People are also experiencing a lifestyle change with the current economy looking for easy ways to reduce expenses by reducing energy consumption in their home or business. They are starting to take a longer term look at the actual cost of the products they use-not just in dollars, but are now asking themselves, "What happens to the product when I'm done with it?"  A major reality in business is that there is less cash flow, so this is a great time to prepare for the "green market". Those of us who have done our homework and created and marketed products and services that are "green" will be a head of the game. More GREEN Advice
