Creating Success Series: Get FOCUS (Part 1 of 4) |

Decide what you want and what it looks like
Do you know the focus (or purpose) of all of your hard work and effort? Do you know someone who desires to change something in their life or has many good ideas, but rarely follows through with any of them?
That's largely due to the fact that results come from focused effort at a particular thing or area. It's certainly difficult to make noticeable progress when the focus of our efforts is not clear. The person described above probably hasn't taken the time to think about their idea, to define it and attach a vision to it.
The essence of focus is gaining clarity about what you want and creating a vision for what it might look like. You might say, well how do I know what it looks like since it doesn't exist?" Success most often is the opposite- We create what we envision. That's the power of our design!
Once you gain focus and launch into your plan of action it is important also maintain focus. Think about a time when you were working on a major task and you pushed yourself to stay focused on doing a good job until the  end.
I find a great sense of accomplishment even when I complete a 30 minute task, especially when it's important to me or part of reaching my goal! Imagine how you feel when you define what you want, focus on a particular goal and stay focused on that until the end. That's focus. That's accomplishment. That's also POWER.

You have a large clientele who are loyal. Why do you think your clients keep coming back to you year after year? Because I really, REALLY listen to what they want! Also it is fun suggesting something I think would look nice on them. I know I would expect the same going somewhere! How long have you been cutting / coloring hair?
Well I graduated from beauty school in 1998!! So I've been doing this for approximately 11 years!
What work have you done that you are most proud of? The work I am most proud of is when someone calls me after I've done their hair and say they look so beautiful, or when their husband / wife calls just to say thank you for what I've done!
Favorite cut of all time?
My favorite cut would probably be the graduated bob.
People spend a good amount of time in that chair-what do you learn about people in general that other people in different professions may not know about their clients? I learn that people aren't always what they seem, or appear to be. I learn that there are definitely wild sides to everyone. Each person has such an interesting view on life, and a journey they have taken to be where they are now! With all of the "talk therapy" you could also call me a psychologist!
