LYL Launch Pad
October 2008 |
|
Greetings!
Welcome to Launch Your Life's monthly e-newsletter. I have created this newsletter for you.
Do you pride yourself in your "work"? Whether part-time/full-time, employed/self-employed, paid/volunteer, you can expect valuable information, a variety of resources, and practical tools that challenge you to grow, fulfill your dreams and create the life you want. As a Life Coach for women I have learned that while we women have a lot to offer the world, many of us fail to realize half of who we are, what we have to offer those around us and what we can do and experience.
Take some time to read this month's feature article entitled, "Discover Your Passion." You'll answer critical questions aimed at uncovering your passion and walk away with practical actions you can take today to start making your passion a reality.
Also, each month will include a "Spotlight"-- brief articles from real women like you who have chosen to share their stories and life lessons. I created this column to (1) promote sharing and learning with women from various backgrounds and stages in their life and work, and (2) to p romote the work of other successful women so success can be shared (as opposed to hoarded).
I hope you find the LYL Launch Pad to be valuable, inspirational and give you that extra "push" to help you move forward both personally and professionally.
I hope all the best for you as you walk through your journey and launch your life!

Discover Your Passion Do What You Love
Do you wake up in the morning looking forward to your work? Many of us spend years doing the daily routine only to find that we wake up one day and realize that we're not happy. We went to college then got a great job because this is what we were supposed to do. It was an acceptable definition of success and we followed suit. Some of you were lucky enough to find what you loved early in life, get an education to support it and a job that pays you well. Congratulations for your early realization that doing what you love will reward you. For the rest of us who may have taken a little longer (or a detour) it's not too late to start living your passion! Read More |

Spotlight Maria Sternlicht
Media Consultant/Account Representative Yellow Book USA Maria has been a Media Consultant with Yellow Book USA for the past year and a half and loves her job. Previously she worked with K and K Publications and has worked in the Sales and Marketing industry for 30 years. I asked Maria to share with us more about what she does and her thoughts and experience with "passion." What do you in your role as a Media Consultant? Maria helps small-to-medium sized businesses to grow through implementing effective marketing campaigns. Because her clients typically have limited marketing funds, it is vital to make their every dollar count. She explains that she "works collaboratively with her clients to tailor the right mix of marketing/advertising products based upon their unique needs." What are you most passionate about in your role? Maria says that she enjoys helping people grow their business through the creation of effective marketing campaigns and building close working relationships with her clients along the way. Her favorite saying when it comes to describing the right marketing mix for her clients is, "Fishing in the right place with the right equipment for the right catch." When did you discover that you were passionate about helping people through Sales and Marketing? "I've always been passionate about helping others succeed, but I didn't know what I wanted to do when I was 21 years old." Maria recalls that she was lifeguarding at a resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma and a seminar attendee, with whom she has become acquainted, told her that he recognized in her a natural sales ability. He offered her a job and weeks later she was working in sales. She quickly discovered that she was good at it. The combination of realizing that she was a "natural" at sales and the satisfaction that came along with helping others succeed indicated that she had discovered her passion and purpose. What does it mean to "live your passion"? "Being honest with yourself about what you really want, and not doing something just to please others. It's doing what you are passionate about and fulfilling your purpose, trusting that everything else will fall into place." What other passions do you have? "I love reading. Right now I am reading "The Million Dollar Closer" by Stephen J. Young. I also enjoy writing, helping and empowering women, completing triathlons and most important-- my son." What advice would you give other women about discovering and pursuing their passion? "First, get focus and clarity about what you want; listen to your heart. This requires reflection which means taking time out. You can't advance unless you retreat. Once you get focus, stay your course. Lastly, if it doesn't rock your boat, don't do it." Maria can be contacted via email at Maria.Sternlicht@yellowbook.com. She welcomes your comments and questions about passion as well as marketing your business. |
