Local teen organizes event to help the Homestead at Alder Cove!

Maggie Maddens is a recent graduate from Gig Harbor High School whose life has been touched by a family member in foster care.  For her Senior project at GHHS, she wanted to do something to help foster children and help raise awareness and money for the Homestead so Maggie decided to organize the 1st annual Mr. Tides event!  She spent many long hours over the course of the school year on the project and was met with many challenges while planning the event.  In the end, the Mr. Tides event was a huge success and it was with much joy that Maggie presented a check to Sue Braaten to go towards the Homestead's building fund! 
 
The Homestead's board of directors would like to thank Maggie for all her efforts, and encourage other supporters to think outside the box like Maggie did for creative ways to spread the word about the Homestead!

Weekend of benefit concerts to be held at Borders Gig Harbor location!!
 
Enjoy coffee and live music the weekend of September 24-26, 2010 at the Gig Harbor location of Borders and support the Homestead at the same time!  The concerts will be held in the Borders Cafe Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings and will feature music by several local musicians including the "Still Got It" band.  Mark your calendar now so you don't miss this great event!  More details to come as the date approaches.

Save the date for the 5th annual Steppin' Up Women's Conference on January 22-23, 2011!    This annual conference is hosted by the Wesley Inn of Gig Harbor and all proceeds from the event are donated to the Homestead!

Movie night fundraiser in the works!!
 
We are in the process of planning a movie night event to be held at Gig Harbor's Galaxy Theatre where all ticket proceeds go the Homestead!  Look for more details including the date and feature film coming soon!!
