Greetings!

Well deserved recongnition for the EDD staff
As we enter the final quarter of 2010, the Economic Development Division is happy to report continued progress in Cincinnati. This issue will give you updates on some projects at or near completion; as well as some well deserved recognition for the EDD staff.

Like our partners in the private sector, EDD is determined to work harder and smarter during the financial downturn. We are preparing for another round of belt tightening as City Council begins the city's budget process, we are dedicated to taking innovative approaches to economic development financing and implementation. We are finding new ways to do more with less and still yielding results in terms of retaining and creating job opportunities for the people of Cincinnati.

Until next time,

Dedication for New Graeter's Plant
City officials helped dedicate the new Graeter's ice cream facility in the City of Cincinnati. The 28,000-square-foot plant, which is located on Paddock Road and 66th Street in the Bond Hill neighborhood, will accommodate Graeter's expansion into new markets nationally. Graeter's will create about 50 jobs at the new facility with the potential for additional jobs within several years. The cost of the building project is approximately $11 million.

The new facility is solely devoted to ice cream production. Graeter's will continue to make its ice cream using its original method - the French Pot Process - on the exact same French Pot machines, keeping with the same family recipes. The high quality and superb taste of Graeter's will remain the same. The new facility will have a larger freezer, loading dock and a blend room where Graeter's will mix together the cream and flavors that create all of Graeter's irresistible taste combinations. Graeter's corporate offices will move to Paddock Road; however, some offices will be maintained at the current Reading Road facility.

Eurostampa North America Begins Construction of a New, 70,000 sq. ft. Printing Facility

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Celebrates Completion of Burke, Inc. Corporate Headquarters
A celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, August 12th, to commemorate the completion of Burke, Inc.'s new corporate headquarters at 500 West 7th Street, downtown Cincinnati.

Burke received assistance from the City including help with a 12-year LEED-CRA property tax abatement. Over the last three years, the company has spent a combined $17.5 million on the project, including the purchase price of the property and construction costs. Burke has targeted LEED Gold level certification; when awarded, the company's property will be one of six in the City of Cincinnati that are Gold certified.

When the company sought a more identifiable corporate headquarters, the company considered various locations in the region, including a number in northern Kentucky. Formerly a lessee at the Centennial Plaza complex on Central Avenue, once the right property came on the market, continuing a presence in downtown Cincinnati made sense to company executives. As a result, Burke has kept over 130 jobs within the City.
