P&G bringing 600 new jobs to Cincinnati
| The Procter & Gamble company (P&G) will consolidate its logistics and planning operations into its Winton Hills Business Center in Cincinnati. Currently these operations are spread across multiple sites in multiple states in North America.
The new jobs consist of 300 jobs that are currently in the state of Ohio but are not within the City of Cincinnati boundaries. P&G would also retain approximately 300 jobs that already exist in the city including some positions that are already at the Winton Hills location.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2012. Once complete the complex will employ more than 1,000 people.
With this latest project, P&G has committed to bring in roughly 1,000 new jobs to the City of Cincinnati within the last year.

Surgical Appliance Industries to expand and create new jobs at Oakley facility
|
Cincinnati City Council approved a Job Creation Tax Credit for Surgical
Appliance Industries. The incentive will be offered for 5 years at 55%.
As a requirement of the tax credit, the company committed to retaining
121 employees and creating 25 new jobs over three years. The company
will maintain these job numbers for at least 10 years.
Surgical Appliance Industries, presently located on Rosslyn Drive in
Oakley, was considering this expansion at either its Cincinnati or
Ottawa, Canada facilities. The company's facility in Ottawa, Canada, had
the capacity for the expansion but, due to efforts by the State of Ohio
and the City of Cincinnati, the company chose its Cincinnati facility
and will invest $1.2 million in new machinery and equipment. The
additional machinery and equipment will enable the company to expand its
Truform Hosiery business.

KZF Designs LEED Renovation for New HQ in Downtown Cincinnati
|
KZF recently renovated and moved into an historic, 1915 three-story building located within the 8th street design district in downtown Cincinnati at 700 Broadway.
The $6 million renovation of the building will house 75 employees and is expected to be awarded LEED Silver certification.
The Economic Development Division worked with KZF to secure two
easements, enter into a lease of an unused alley, and to provide a
property tax abatement to offset a portion of the costs of building to
LEED specifications.

On Monday, June 21st, 2010, the Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross celebrated the opening of their new Headquarters and Disaster Operations Center. The new 50,000 sq. ft. building will serve 25 counties that include southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeastern Indiana.
Each year, the Chapter serves 200,000 people in sixteen counties.
This facility will allow them to serve these people effectively through
state-of-the-art communications systems, indoor truck loading, and a
customized layout designed to accommodate training, drills, and disaster
response. The new building is 3 stories, and hopes to be
LEED-Gold certified.
Economic Development and the Parks Department worked with the Chapter
on a series of easements, property transfers, and zone changes to
accommodate the project and we congratulate the Red Cross on reaching
this important milestone.

7th and Broadway Garage Opens
|
The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) announced they will move approximately 650
jobs from their Governor's Hill location to their Downtown Cincinnati world headquarters. With the expanded workforce moving downtown additional parking was needed. To accommodate the growing workforce, the City of Cincinnati expanded the 7th and Broadway public garage. P&G entered into a Parking License Agreement with the City for the additional parking. The garage will continue to provide monthly parking to other downtown workers and residents, as well as hourly rate parking for visitors.
The new jobs will increase P&G's payroll for employees in Cincinnati
by approximately $30 million, resulting in $630,000 in additional
payroll tax revenue that will help provide City services to all
neighborhoods. Bringing 650 new jobs to Downtown will mean more people
on the streets, eating at restaurants, shopping at the stores, and
adding to the vitality of Downtown.

Strickland Announces Ohio Consumer Marketing Hub of Innovation and Opportunity in Cincinnati
|
Cincinnati,
Ohio--Ohio Governor Ted Strickland today announced the designation of
the Cincinnati Consumer Marketing Hub as an Ohio Hub of Innovation and
Opportunity. The hub will bring together the Cincinnati USA Regional
Chamber, Procter & Gamble, Kroger Company, the University of
Cincinnati and Macy's to strengthen and create job opportunities in
Ohio's consumer marketing industry. "Cincinnati's
Hub designation will assist this region's already strong business and
educational community in attracting young creative talent, new companies
and job opportunities in consumer marketing to Ohio," Strickland said.
"Targeted investments in Ohio's urban regions and businesses are a
critical piece of our economic development strategy to create jobs and
strengthen Ohio's economy." The
Consumer Marketing Hub of Innovation and Opportunity will focus on
promoting entrepreneurship, economic development and commercialization
in the consumer marketing industry, providing the intelligence, insight,
innovation, and infrastructure to sell Ohio's products and services.
The state's investment of a $250,000 grant, administered by the Ohio
Department of Development, will assist the hub. The
Consumer Marketing Hub is a key initiative of Cincinnati's regional
action plan to transform the local economy and grow talent and jobs for
Southwestern Ohio. The hub is expected to contribute to the region's
