Greetings!
The City Council's Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee, chaired by Councilmember Roxanne Qualls, will hold a public hearing to gather testimony about the new alternatives for the Brent Spence Bridge expansion. The purpose of the hearing is to gather testimony from business owners, public officials and community members on the recently-released report on the alternatives that will move forward for further consideration. The report recommends further study of two alternatives that would add a new bridge just west of the existing span. The report recommends that the "Queensgate Alternative" be eliminated from further consideration. City Council passed a motion opposing this alternative last year because of the significant economic losses it would cause for businesses in Queensgate; held a public hearing to take testimony from Queensgate businesses; and submitted a report to the state and federal governments documenting the impact of the alternative on the area. The recommendations must still be approved by the Federal Highway Administration after the public comment period on the report. DATE: Tuesday, May 12, 2009 5:30 p.m. Alternatives on display for viewing 6-6:30 p.m. Presentation of recommendations 6:30-8 p.m. Public testimony LOCATION: Queensgate Quality Inn 800 W. 8th Street 12th Floor Banquet Room CONTACT: Jennifer O'Donnell, 352-2560 office; 349-5359 mobileThe full Conceptual Alternatives Study can be viewed at: www.brentspencebridgecorridor.com |
