Kao Brands adds 30 jobs with expansion
Project news from Jeff McElravy
|
Kao Brands, the maker of Ban antiperspirants and deodorants, Jergens and Curél hand and body lotions, Bioré facial care, and John Frieda hair care products, is making a $7.9 million investment in its facilities in Camp Washington. Kao Brands already has 449 employees who work in the company's manufacturing, research and development, and corporate functions. They are also moving 30 marketing positions from Stamford, Connecticut to Cincinnati to bring synergy to a diverse and innovative global marketing team of over 85 people.
To offset some of the costs of that investment and attract the new jobs to Cincinnati, the City and the State assisted Kao Brands with a Job Creation Tax Credit (JCTC). Over the term of the agreement, the net return to the City is anticipated to be just under $16 million. We are thrilled that Kao Brands is making this investment and that they will serve as an anchor for redevelopment in Camp Washington. |

dunnhumby will create 150 new jobs with new expansion
|

On March 9th dunnhumbyUSA held a ceremony signaling the start of the renovation of their new offices at 444 West Third Street.
The demolition of a former City of Cincinnati maintenance building was the first step in the renovation of the "Hennegan Building." The maintenance structure will be brought down for additional dunnhumby employee parking at the end of John Street.
Simon Hay, CEO of dunnhumby, capped off the ceremony by getting onto a backhoe and starting the demolition of the old Public Services facility.

Neyer, Inc., the project's developer, will provide all design-build services for the renovation. Upon completion the building will be the national headquarters for dunnhumby's operations in the United States.
Currently, dunnhumbyUSA employs close to 300 at its 302 West Third Street location and is looking to add up to 150 new jobs over the next 3 years.
When completed in August 2009, the project will represent $15.1 million in created value.

Cincinnati attracts 2,500 jobs in 2008
News from Mayor Mark Mallory's office
|
The City of Cincinnati secured a total of 2,500 new jobs in 2008. The City of Cincinnati's Economic Development Division has been aggressively recruiting companies to relocate or expand in the city. In order to bring new jobs to the city, the Mayor and Council have approved various incentive programs for existing companies to expand and new companies to locate within the City.
"Despite the difficult national economic climate, Cincinnati had a very strong year of job creation," Mayor Mark Mallory said. "Our city continues to be a very attractive location for business investment. Over the last few years, we have implemented a much more targeted and aggressive economic development strategy, and it is paying off."
Cincinnati has many qualities that make it an attractive destination for business investment, including: a strong corporate community; low cost of living; well-educated workforce; many transportation options; and a pro-business climate.
The companies that have expanded or agreed to bring new jobs to Cincinnati include: Medpace, US Bank, Humana, FirstGroup, dunnhumbyUSA, and Kendle, among others.
