BOLD New Jersey 08
Dear BOLD Friends,

Aaaah...it's almost spring! A few exciting things to share with you...

New BOLD Performance and Red Tent sites in 2009!
BOLD 2009 is underway (this year you can do it any time of year!). Our current performance locations include Hawaii (all over!), New York City, Fort Collins, Colorado, San Diego, California, Murphys, California, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Paris, France and Vienna, Austria.  And BOLD Red Tents are popping up all over the place too! (by the way, we've gotten rid of the art/film  project requirement making it easier than ever to hold a BOLD Red Tent in your community). Check out our complete list here of who's BOLD in 2009.

And for those of you living in or near Little Rock, Arkansas, come meet playwright and BOLD founder Karen Brody at the Arkansas Literary Festival April 19th. She'll be speaking that weekend and after a 45-minute version of her play, Birth. Karen gave birth to her two boys in Little Rock so this will not only be a fun event, but a homecoming.
Calling all filmmaker/ birth advocates!
Birth Matters Virginia (an organization that works to promote an evidence-based model of maternity care) is inviting mothers, fathers, filmmakers, film students, birth advocates, and others to create a 4-7 minute educational video about birth. The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of $1000. Second place $500 and an "honorable mention" prize of $100 will also be awarded. The deadline for entering the contest is Mother's Day, May 10, 2009.

For rules and to see how to enter, please visit http://www.birthmattersva.org/videocontest.html
