Katherine's Story--Remarkable Boston client overcomes challenges for new car and new life

The road to financial freedom was a long and bumpy one for Katherine D. of Massachusetts.
Beginning with credit card debt while in college, she later found herself with an upside-down mortgage during her marriage. After a divorce she was forced to file for bankruptcy, and lost her home. A year later, Katherine became very ill and after major surgery was permanently disabled. Even so, she was able to begin to manage her finances well enough to support herself and her three children. Just when things seemed to be looking up, a personal relationship became abusive and she and her children had to seek safe, transitional housing. "It was devastating on so many levels," Katherine said. "I was so lucky to hear about More Than Wheels--it has meant freedom for me and my family." When Katherine joined the program she had poor credit, no home, and no car. The budgeting skills she learned in FinFit classes, her consistency with payments on her Bridge car and a courageous persistence helped her begin to rebuild her credit, and qualify her for her new car loan. "I continue to build my credit and am moving towards getting a new home for me and my kids. I recommend More Than Wheels to everyone under the sun who is trying to set their life in a better direction!" |

Take Me Out To The Ballgame!

Please join the entire More Than Wheels family of clients, alumni, employees, board members,
supporters, and friends from MA and NH at the NH Fisher Cats baseball game on Saturday, July 23rd, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. The Fisher Cats (AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) will be playing the Portland Sea Dogs (AA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox). The 7:05 p.m. evening game will include special recognition of More Than Wheels in a pre-game ceremony, and will end with a fireworks display! This year we have special activities for all More Than Wheels attendees and their families--so be sure to bring your kids--including a pre-game parade, a flag ceremony, and other surprises.
It's first come, first served for FREE tickets--Here's how to get them:
1. Go to the More Than Wheels Facebook page, Like us and click on the Events Page to RSVP. Let us know how many tickets you need, and they will be held for you at will call. Those who make the request from Face Book will also be sent a "We Like you too" gift as a thank you for joining our community. OR/
2. Click RSVP to email a request for tickets. Be sure to include your address for mailing.
