Getloaded Goes Racing

NASCAR

What has nine letters, is focused on speed and excellence, and accustomed to being at the head of the pack?

Both Getloaded and our new racing partner, Baker Curb.

At Getloaded, we're used to making truck and load searching fast, but now we're testing our speed on the racetrack. We are proud to serve as an associate sponsor of Baker Curb Racing's #27 Ford, through the end of the NASCAR Nationwide Series 2010 season.

The partnership kicked off on September 8 with a Hermie Sadler appearance in Emporia, Va., where fans and members met the legendary driver and checked out our show car. If you missed this event, we hope you'll join us as we bring the show car to 20 different truck stops across the country before the end of the year. Visit our Facebook page to learn more about how and where to catch up with our mobile team and follow us on Twitter to see which stops are next on the schedule. You can also check out our YouTube channel to see videos of the show car and races or Flickr to see pictures of our events so far. This week, you'll find the #27 show car on the road:

  • September 28: Chapman's Truck Stop 2560 Whitesville Rd., La Grange, Ga.

  • September 30: Race City Travel Plaza 75246 Alabama Hwy. 77,Lincoln, Ala.

  • October 1: Dodge City Travel Center 426 Alabama HWY 69S, Hanceville, Ala.

In addition to our travels, you can find the Getloaded logo speeding around the track in every upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series races:

Like many of our members, the Getloaded team is full of avid NASCAR fans, so we are truly excited to partner with Baker Curb Racing. Whether you are watching the races on TV, enjoying the roar of the engines from the grandstand or able to join us at a truck stop event while on the road, this associate sponsorship is dedicated to you -- and the thrill and hard work that comes from behind the wheel.

Did You Know?

Icy Road SignIt's already time to start thinking about winterizing your truck.

Somehow, the summer has escaped us, and fall is here, which means two things: 1) we're all ready for some football, and 2) it's time to start planning for the upcoming cold, wet winter weather.

We know Getloaded members are experienced, cautious transportation professionals, but in the interest of safety, we offer the following reminder to help keep you trucking, no matter what the winter brings:

Truck Maintenance and Safety
  • Check your engine, battery and transmission to ensure the summer heat has not damaged your truck(s).
  • Examine your tire tread, adjust tire pressure as the weather cools, and ensure you have functional chains if you regularly travel in icy or snowy conditions.
  • Stock your cab with water, blankets, gloves and food, so you are prepared for weather that can unexpectedly leave you stranded.

Driving Tips for Ice and Snow
  • Allow three times as much space between you and other vehicles as you normally would in dry weather.
  • Reduce speed by 50 percent in icy or snowy conditions.
  • If you become stuck while on the road, stay in your truck to avoid threats like hypothermia or being hit by a passing motorist who loses control of their vehicle.
As the old saying goes, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Freight levels are increasing as the economy rebounds. Now is the time to prepare for winter, so you are better prepared to take advantage of new opportunities -- no matter the season.
