The past couple of weeks have reminded me how vigilant I need to be with my photos. With the tragedies of fire and floods happening in Qld, Vic, I feel sorrow and heartache, not only for those victims who lost their lives, but for those who lost everything, all their precious memories in the form of photos, and keepsakes.
We as scrapbookers, are story tellers, tellers of our own personal history. To lose all these precious memories would be gut-wrenching.
So I beg of you to back up your photos, store them in separate places. Even online galleries, such as Photobucket or Flickr. Anywhere that your photos may be accessed should the unspeakable ever happen.
Here at Country Papercraft, we are doing our little bit to help the victims of the Victorian Fires, by holding a SCRAP-A-THON next weekend, 20th - 24th February, both online in the Forum and at the Shop - ring Marg to book your place! We are donating 10% of all sales on Saturday 21st Feb both instore and online to the Fire Appeal. Please find it in your heart to spend up big, so that those in need may benefit. Surprise Designer Competition
Each month one lucky shopper is chosen as a Surprise Designer. It is simple to enter, all you have to do is register in the FORUM and then place an order in 2 consecutive months. There is no limit to the amount you spend each month, just place an order. Each month one lucky shopper is chosen and when they receive their order in the mail they will receive a Surprise Designer Kit. All you do then is create your layouts, cards, mini albums, what ever you wish to create with your kit. Unlike the Designer kits you may add whatever elements you wish with the kit to create your layouts.

Leonie has used Lynlee's Designer Sketch from the Blog to create this layout of Flyn, (if only you would stay this small forever). She has used papers from her stash combining them with Green Tara Blossoms and Flourish stamps all from Country Papercraft.

The Designers will choose which challenge they would like to do and create layouts for the Newsletter. The use of
colours, the right colours, on your layouts can take them from "OK" to "FANTABULOUS!".
Color has a huge role in the final presentation of each page. Take a wander through the Paint section of your local hardware store and check out the "Trends" for colour combinations. Using these 'paint chips' can assist in making your layout POP!

Quote Challenge
Quotes are a great source of inspiration, and also an important part of scrapbooking - they can say so much about a layout, a feeling, a moment in time. Deb will each month be challenging us all to use a particular quote in our scrapbooking. Even, if at this time you are unable to scrap with the quote, make sure you write them down for a time when inspiration strikes.

Summer FUN
Michelle has so many new summer fun photos that she thought she would challenge the Designers to give her some inspiration by asking them to create a double layout incorporating black & white and colour photos, with the focus on 1 large photo, she also requested that the Designers use layering on their layouts.
