February's Designer Kit Release Newsletter
February 01, 2009 |
Hi
IT'S HERE!!!
The BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! Keep reading to find out more!!!!
So how are the holidays treating you? Are you looking forward to the kids starting school again!
I am, just so I can get some peace and quiet to scrap without the constant bickering. Why is it when you pick up a tool or piece of patterned paper the arguing starts?
2009 brings about lots of change and movement in the scrapping world - what trends are going to be popular this year? Which products are no longer the in thing? I look forward to see what new and wonderful things are being released for 2009.
With the anticipated release of new products and range, we all wait with baited breath on CHA '09. But seeing the sneak peeks of the new releases, I honestly can't wait! I just hope that the credit crunch doesn't affect my scrapping too much.
Until Next Time
Stay safe 'n' happy scrapping

Getting to Know Leonie....
We have been featuring in past newsletters a getting to know the Designer's section, where the forum users get to grill the Designer's, this month's it's Leonie's turn...
Hey Lone, How
do you find time to scrap with those 2 little boys?
Easy Deb, I have then trained so that most nights
they are in bed and asleep by 7 - 7.30 pm.
That's when I mostly scrap, when they are asleep. On my days off I also scrap when they nap during
the day. Jack normally has a 3-4 hour
nap, so it's easy. Flyn
normally lays on the floor or now in his walker while I scrap. No problem!!
Next....
Miss
Lone...in what order do you scrap? Goodies first or photos and story first?
Umm..really good question. Most times I start with the photo and work
from there. But sometimes i find a
really great piece of paper that I just have to use, so then I go searching for
a photo that I can use with it.
Next...
Ok Lone, just wondering if you have a favorite
technique that you use all the time??? ?
Inking.....simple
as that. It's not very often that I will
do a layout that doesn't have inking on it.
And if it doesn't it's normally because I'm scrapping elsewhere than my
desk and I'm too lazy to get up and go get the ink... LOL
Next...
and...what
ONE thing (apart from papers, adhesive & photo's) could you not scrap
without
My Pinecone Versacubes. I have about 6 open and on the go and about
another 6 unopened....lol. Just in case
you know...LOL You can never have
enough, because you might run out!
Next...
Favourite
brand or manufacturer would be who??? {Only one Lone, only one ...}
Boy, now this is a hard one! Only one?? Geez!!
A while ago I would have said Basic Grey or maybe Crate as I normally
love all their products, but of late I would have to say KAISER. The papers are nice quality, great patterns
(normally), and double sided!! They make
gorgeous bling and flowers and Off The Page stuff and now silk flowers and chipboard, as
well as rub-ons and clear stamps. What more could a girl
ask for??
Next...
When you
receive a design team pack from marg each month, how do you go about turning
that into layouts for the newsletter??
Ok well, first I normally go through the panic
stage...simply, because as I said in a previous question I normally scrap with
the photo first. But once I sit and look
at it, and look at it, and look at it...I normally come up with something! Mostly because I'm running out of time and need
to get it done...LOL and whether it's a good something or a bad something is
anybody's guess LOL. I am my own worst critic, so I'm normally not
happy with 95% of what I scrap. I also find I scrap better to a deadline,
otherwise I procrastinate too much!
Next....
What would
you be doing if not scrapping do you have other hobbies?
I have lots of other hobbies that I have dabbled in at
sometime or other. I love doing
leadlight, but haven't really had the time to do it in a long time (ask Miss
Julie she has seen my windows in person!).
i also used to be a big cross stitcher but again haven't touched it in a
long time. I have always been a
"rafty' person of some form or another.
Next...
What would be
your five 'desert island' scrapping supplies?
Glue, scissors, Patterned Paper, Cardstock
and photos....LOL Simple! *Snigger*
Next...
Who would you
invite to a "scrapfest"?
OMG where do I start??
All my buddies from CPC so i could meet you all in
person!
Steph Devlin because I love her and she is just
gorgeous!! And we have scrapped together lots of times and I miss not being
able to.
Zarah because I love her sketches and would love to
meet her in person!
Elodie (a french lady) because iIlove her style and
she has influenced me alot.
O I can't think of anymore at the moment... I'm sure there are lots I will
think of later...lol
And thats it!
Phew... made it!
Thanks Lone, for taking the time to answer the forum questions!

Love is... {what you want it to be}
With Valentine's day just around the corner - OMG this year is going so fast already!
We were challenged to create layouts in they typical colours that signify love. Red, White & Black. We also had to use lots of blossoms - because what is Valentine's day without Flowers!
LET MY LOVE - created by Deb
Deb has used 3 Bugs in a Rug Playtime collection -
Choo Choo. Large alphas are Carolee's Sleek Red, pearls are Kaiser, and
rub-ons are Basic Grey.
HAPPINESS IS - created by Lynlee
Lynlee has used Cosmo Cricket papers, and some old music
paper, a Heidi Swapp ghost clock, Green Tara blossoms, American Craft Thickers
and Carolee's Creations alpha stickers, a Heidi Swapp ghost bird which she backed with the
old music paper and a large Tim Holtz Grungeboard heart which she inked
with red and Pinecone Versacube Ink, put clear embossing powder over the top then
applied a Basic Grey rub on. She also used the new Darkroom Door stamps, the music
notes under the clock.
MWAH - created by Leonie
Leonie has used Crate Paper, KAISERscrapbooking and Jenni Bowlin papers.
Green Tara blossoms and ribbons from my stash.
KAISERcraft Rhinesones, and a butterfly stamp and chipboard butterfly from her stash, which she rediscovered when she moved house recently.

Back to School
It's that time of the year again, when we pack up our kiddies lunchboxes, comb their hair, and send them off for the day to school. Many of us take the mandatory back to school photo, so this month the Designers are creating layouts using school photos. The only stipulation was that there were to be 4 photos, school colours and no patterned paper.
FINAL DAY - created by Deb

2008 - created by Lynlee
Lynlee has created her own background paper using her foam stamps to create a collage of alphabets and letters on a darker piece of cardstock. She has used American Craft Thickers, Heidi Swapp Ghost Clock, Making Memories Alpha Stickers, and Rub-ons from her stash.

Blog Sketches
This year, the Designer's thought that they would have a go at creating some sketches for the readers of the blog. So each week we will be posting a new sketch by one of the Designers - and hopefully a layout using the sketch. But that depends on the busy schedule of the Designers - But we promise you there will be a SKETCH each week. So why not jump on over to the BLOG and check out each week's sketch.
This one is created by Michelle - who has just returned home from a holiday in Qld, and has many holiday snaps to scrap. So she has gotten straight into it with a multi photo sketch.

{hanging with the stars} MOVIEWORLD - created by Mish
Michelle has used KAISERscrapbooking's range of FUN IN THE SUN papers, along with Tim Holtz Grungeboard, Versamark Cube Ink, Green Tara Blossoms, and Carolee's Alpha Stickers.

JUST BECAUSE...
The Designer's have been busy creating layouts using lots of new and older products from their stash. Check out their gorgeous creations.
PICNIC AT KANGAROO ROCK - created by Marg
Marg has used KAISERscrapbooking's Lovestruck Papers, and bling. Ant Brads, wide ric-rac & chipboard shapes that she has had hanging around in her stash for eons. Marg has created this layout using older photos and she uses a Becky Fleck sketch for inspiration.

LANCE & JULES' DOERS - created by Marg
Marg uses Bazzill cardstock, DreamStreet Mod
Posy Papers, some chipboard flowers and metal word strip from her stash. She also used up some Hambly transparency strips, Carolee's alpha's.
Marg says: "These are my youngest brothers children... an old photo, I am really going to
put a dent in old photos this year. Also am dating on the back when
they have been scrapped, was going to do this ages ago. By oldest
brother always would call them the "Doers" and it has stuck in my mind
even though he doesn't call them that now they are older."

JANUARY 09 - created by Leonie
Leonie uses the gorgeous KAISERscrapboo range sthers Guestlist.
And the Nestabilities scallop die, which she has even managed to work out a way to emboss with them!

ADORE - created by Julie
Julie uses the New Playful Petals Range from Daisy Bucket

TRAVELS - created by Julie
In this layout Julie uses the In the Meadow Range from Daisy Bucket

8 YEARS ON - created by Deb
Deb has used Dream Street Remember the Moments, Challen, Fancy Pants All Fall, Penmanship,
she has also used a journalling card from Fancy Pants All Fall, and added some Cosmo Cricket rubons, Carolees and MM Tiny alphas. The
mixed font chipboard alphas are a combination of MM, Delish Designs and
Bella - inked with the trusty ole Pinecone versacube. She has disguised the faces of the girls as she doesn't have permission to show them on the net.

Designer's Tip
Here's something I learnt from making this major mistake.
Never write on the back of your photos with a ballpoint pen, as this
will cause indentations. Make sure when your write on them, be sure
to use a soft lead pencil to allow minimal pressure.
I wish I had known this before I started scrapping!
