Hi

I bet you would like to be reminded that there are only 25 days until the Jolly Man in the Red Suit comes shooting down your chimney!

How are you going in all your Christmas preparations - the Designers have made a start getting ready for their 2008 Christmas photos as you will see in one of the feature articles.

They have also been busy creating some little extra special items for you.  The instructions for these items are available in the forum.  If you are not registered you will still be able to view the instructions, but you will not be able to ask questions if you need clarification.  So why not register, it takes but a few minutes and cost nothing.

Please note - there has been a new gallery created in the gallery specifically for the Designers.  This will enable you to find the Designer's Newsletter creations, without having to search through the Gallery.  Click HERE to find the Designer's Gallery

The shop is fully functional now, with Marg holding her classes regularly.  She is busy doing card creation classes and Christmas decorations.  If you would like to be part of these classes, give her a call and find out when the next one is.

Getting to know....

Deb, or affectionately known as Tassie Deb!

From Mish:  Deb what would be your fave all-time layout and why?

Well, this is a dificult one first off.  Thanks Mish :)  I think my fave all time layout would have to be the Blind Scrapping layout from April this year.  I was so very happy with Lone's instructions and the pp's I chose, and the way it all came together so smoothly.    I really think it was the KAISERscrapbook papers that won the layout for me (Lone Ranger, available from CPC)

From Kris:  What is your most happiest childhood memory?

Easy peasy, this one Kris.  As I was growing up my dad was an axeman and attended all the agricultural shows on the NW coast, and sometimes further.  My most vivid memory of this time is when my brother and I, separately, conned 20 cents out of mum and dad, each, and we ended up with 6 coloured chickens at the end of the day.  Shame the chickens all grew up to be roosters, and white ones at that, not the pretty coloured ones we bought.

From Parky:  What or who is your favourite thing to scrap and why - what do you get out of it?

Obviously I love to scrap my boys, including Daz.  I love looking back at my pages and seeing how they all have changed over the 6 years I have been at this obsession.  I get satisfaction out of my scrapping, particularly out of scrapping difficult or *non-perfect* pics.

From Barbie:  What is your fav brand of scrapping goodies?

Ooooh, do I have a fave??  Well, yes I do, I absolutely adore Basic Grey (after being phobic for so long), I love their alpha stickers, and rubons, as well as the pp's.  I also love Dream Street, Crate Paper, and Kaiser (especially cos they are all double sided and good value for your money).

From Kris:  If you could invite 2 people outside of your family to dinner- Who would they be and why??  What woud you cook for them for dinner??

Oh no, I have to cook, lol.  Ummmm, I would invite Pink, cos I love her sound and I then would need some eye candy, maybe someone like Daniel Craig (James Bond) cos Pink maynot take him off me, rofl.  As for cooking - well, how about a lamb roast, with all the trimmings.

From Susan:  Name your 5 desert island scrapping supplies?

Ooooh, another corker of a question.  1.  Alpha stickers, esp Carolees Tiny Alphas, dont know how I ever scrapped without them.  2. Bazzil Cardstock - need I say more.  3.  Dream Street or Kaiser pp, cos they are double sided, and give you more options.  4. Cuttlebug and embossing and cutting folders (not that I use it as often as I should).  5. Pinecone versacube - the most versatile versacube colour, goes with everything.

Thanks Barbie for this question:  What is the worst scrapping item you have ever used?

Easy peasy Japanesy - Heidi Swapp rub ons - what a total waste of money and effort - pure rubbish and I will never, ever buy any ever again.

From Lisa:  In what order do you scrap?

Usually I start with the pp's and embellishments and then add the pic.  I am lucky that I have a great printer and photo editing program so I can edit my pics to suit the pp's and then print them in whatever size I want.

From Parky:  Do you find Off The Page  items very challenging and if so why?

Yes, OTP's are something I only do for special occasions or for special people.  I find it frustrating and usually too fiddly.  However, I really, really want to do one of those clear mini albums, so I might have to relent.

From Barbie:  Do you make your family members change clothes to match the paper you just got in?

Wow Barbie - can you really imagine 2 boys doing that for me?  The answer is no, but I do try to keep the camera handy if the boys put on anything that will go with any of my new patterned papers.  If I had girls, then I would have to say that I would do that!!

From Lisa:  what about...do you like to scrap with no disctractions? or do you groove along to music as you go? or have a TV or something on in the background as you go?

My normal scrapping *noise* is the boys chatting/fighting/asking for food.  I have a new computer now and it's on my scrapping desk so maybe I will start to listen to music whilst I scrap.

From Parky:  If you weren't a scrapper what other craft interests you?

I have a huge collection of DMC embroidery threads, so I guess I would still be cross stitching if I weren't obsessed with scrapping.

From Susan:  What do your boys really think about the pages you create?

Well, as long as they don't have pink on them or too many flowers or ribbons, Mitchell is beastly careless.  Samuel is quick to say if he likes or dislikes a lay out but that is usally because of the picture I have used.  Daz keeps asking if I have his permission to place any layouts of him on the net, and I keep saying I do!!

Phew, I think that is it, thanks girls for the questions, they did get me thinking.

Christmas Preparations

Designer's Tip

If your find that you are unsure exactly where to place a stamp on a page, all you  need to do is to stamp the image required onto a piece of tracing paper.Cut around the stamped image and place it on your layout. The tracing paper is hardly visible so you can move around the stamped image and get a good idea of where the best placement on the page will be. You can also stamp multiple images and use them together.
Lynlee's Sketches....

Lynlee has been turning her hand to producing scrapbooking sketches.  So this month she has challenged us to create a layout using her sketch.  The theme had to be summer based and must contain buttons and brads.
