FIRST ANNUAL BCC TURKEY TROT
|
|
Join
Blade Thanksgiving morning for the first annual BCC Turkey Trot.
We'll meet at Amante at 8:30 and ride out to
Hygiene and back. This ride is approximately 30 miles and 2:30 hours so you'll
make it back in time for dinner.
Don't
sit at home eyeing that chocolate pecan pie with the ameretto whipped cream
your mother in law brought for desert. You
can't justify the calories unless you go on this ride! For any questions, call
Blade at 303.912.2195.

MEET THE BCC VOLUNTEER LEADERS
|
|
A
lot happens behind the scenes of our organized rides and cycling advocacy
efforts. We are an all-volunteer
organization with a team of volunteer leaders (below) committed to serving our
members and the cycling community.
The Club's mission is to (1) provide recreational road bikers a
safe, fun, and social way to ride with a group;
(2) promote road biking safety in the rural areas of the County where we
ride through infrastructure improvements and road safety education for
motorists and cyclists; and (3) train
our ride leaders and members in cycling safety knowledge, courtesy, and
skills.
President of the Board
Donald
Cicchillo is the Club founder and has tirelessly and persistently developed the
Club for the past three years. He has
supervised the Clubs IT development, secured corporate sponsors, organized
events, recruited volunteers and members, and lead rides. Donald has been a real estate broker and
developer in Boulder
for the last ten years. No one has
ridden on more BCC rides than Donald.
Board
Member and Advocacy Director
Jim
Miers has spearheaded the Club's advocacy efforts, membership marketing, and
volunteer leadership development. He is
a retired entrepreneur and attorney and has significant volunteer management
experience. He has been consistently
riding with the club since the beginning three years ago and hosts the
Wednesday noon NCAR Repeats Plus ride, which is now scheduled to go all year
(if above 40 and below 90 degrees).
Ride
Leader Coordinator
Blade
Hanak is the Club's most active and enthusiastic ride leader and has taken on
the responsibility for training and coordinating the Club's ride support
team. Blade is a computer security
manager for IBM. He is the Alberto
Contador of the Club, so the only question is who will come in second on the
BCC New Year's NCAR Six Pack Hill Climb.
Safety
Director
Dan
Glaser is chair of the Club's Safety Committee, which sets safety policy for
the Club's internal rides and external advocacy efforts. Dan owns a commercial green
lighting consulting business that offers proprietary design software. He has taught at Rennselaer Polytechnic
Institute and Parsons School of Design.
Dan is a fearless and dedicated bike commuter with experience riding in
the 5 Boroughs Cycling Club in New
York City.
Route
Coordinator
Barry
Janzen is the Club's most committed, long distance bike commuter, riding from north
of Niwot to Google most work days. He
creates safe and fun routes for Club rides and works with the County Cartographer
and Department of Transportation to create safer bike routes in the
unincorporated areas of the County for both recreational road bikers and
commuters. He works for that friendly
company that dominates cyberspace, Google, so be nice to him.
IT/Communications Director
Eli
Madrone is in charge of the Club's website, email-marketing system (Constant
Contact), and membership relationship management software (Salesforce).
Eli is Communications Coordinator for Downtown Boulder, a non-profit merchant's
association, and is a committed bike commuter. Eli has challenged the
other gourmet cooks in the club (Dan, Blade, Alma, and Sue) to a chef's smack
down. The members will decide via a blind taste test. Before you
place any bets with him, remember he spent five years as a professional chef.
