Notes from the Prez:
Hi Everybody, Wow has mother nature been playing some interesting tricks (and not treats) with the weather lately!
Last Sunday's ride in the snow finally allows the club to paraphrase the motto of the postal service "Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night, stays BCC members from the swift completion of their appointed rides."
Blade Hanak lead one other rider out in the snow at 9:30 on Sunday
morning. He has two words for those interested in riding in wet
conditions: neoprene booties.
Please note that Tuesday winds down
our evening weekday rides for the year. Please mark your calendars for
this Thursday and a very important meeting (see more info below). Next
week we roll out the daytime NCAR repeats taking advantage of our mild
day time weather we often get in the winter months! Don't forget also
our upcoming meeting on November 9th featuring Scott Christopher of
Bicycle Colorado.
I want to thank our members who are stepping up and taking on
volunteer positions to help the club grow, evolve and provide more
services and information for our club members. A special shout out
to Jim Miers for the tremendous amount of time and energy he has put
forth in helping to develop the club! It's very exciting watching the
club expand into more and more areas. Watch the website for more
information and service in the future!

CAN LANCE OR ALBERTO DO WHAT WE CAN?
|
|
Can Lance or
Alberto Do What We Can?
Sure the pros can sprint 40 mph
after 6 hours in the saddle, average 450 watts on a 30-minute climb, and take a
"nature break" while still on the bike. But none of them can
match what we recreational cyclists do every day. Does Alberto Contador's resume include:
---Ability to change discreetly into Lycra shorts while stopped in rush-hour
traffic on way to post-work group ride.
Watch out for that emergency brake!
---Ability to do 6-9 pm weekday ride and stay awake through almost entire 7:30
a.m. PowerPoint presentation by Irv in Accounts Receivable.
---Ability to squeeze 90-minute ride into 60-minute lunch break. Warm-up?
We don't need no stinkin' warm-up!
---Ability to fit bicycle into your dumpster-size office cubicle and never get
chain marks on pants or skirt - except on the day of your performance evaluation.
Thanks
to Roadbikerider.com for this bit of humor. |
