Notes from the Prez:
Hi Everybody,
It was great to see so many members ride in the Buff Classic last
weekend. I completed my first "Century" and if your interested in my own detailed explanation of the ride. Thanks to everyone that came out and worked at the booth we had at the
finish area. It was great to see so many familiar faces and members
sharing the experiences of the ride and just hanging out and having
fun! A year ago I never dreamed I'd be able to ride 100 miles but I did
it and hopefully the club has helped others to fulfill their own goals
and aspirations!
With the shortened day length we will now start leaving at 5:15 pm
for the Tuesday and Thursday rides. Check the calendar on the website for more details and changes in the Sunday ride which will be lead by Blade is scheduled for Sunday
September 27. Click here for details.
Speaking of Blade we'd like to thank him for accepting the
volunteer role as Safety and Ride leader Coordinator. Blade has shown
exceptional leadership skills in his role as a ride leader throughout
the year and now that the club is growing he will help coordinate our
efforts at creating safer and more organized rides in the future.
Thanks a million Blade for stepping up and volunteering. It's the
volunteers that have help us grow, evolve and improve over the years!
Another volunteer, Jim Miers, our Director of Cycling Advocacy,
has been working diligently behind the scenes on local cycling oriented
advocacy issues and will be reporting via the website and this
newsletter as things progress and develop. Please note the upcoming
training program detailed by Jim below. Feel free to contact him if
your interested in this program or would like to become involved in the
club's efforts to help advocated for the cycling community in the
Boulder area.
As the outdoor evening season starts to wind down we will be
introducing a noontime ride (NCAR Repeats) in the coming season. Watch
the calendar and this newsletter for more information on that ride in
the coming months. In the meantime lets make the most of this great
Fall weather and get out there and ride!
