Issue: #1 Volume 26 Late August 2009
Notes from the Prez:

The Membership Appreciation Party was a big success and everyone had a good time! It was great to see members in "street clothes" and get a chance to catch up with old friends made on the road over the past years. It's great to see the camaraderie that has built up and the momentum that the club is picking up. For a more detailed description of the party click here

Thanks to all those who helped out and to Peter Wayne for photographing the event. Check out his photos on our web site. A special thanks also to Jeff Brown and the folks at Boulder Beer Company for hosting the event and taking such good care of us! It turned out to be a dry warm summer night and it was great to be outside on the back patio.

We want to thank the new folks that came out and for anyone who wants to join or renew their membership simply click here and join/renew on line.  Wondering what your renewal date is just email us and we can let you know the date you originally joined.

Thanks to Jim for heading up our Cycling Advocacy Program (see more below) and we look forward to updates from you in the future.

I hope everyone is enjoying this great end of summer weather and taking advantage of it and getting out there and riding!

I'll see you on the bike, RIDE ON!

RIDE UPDATES

We have rolled out the September Ride Schedule and you can find it on the calendar on the website. Please note we will be starting the weekday rides at 5:30 sharp to take advantage of the shortened day length. September is usually one of the best months to ride here in Boulder so let's see you out there with us!
BUFF CLASSIC

The Buff Classic is one of the last major charity rides of the season. Many of our members will be riding in the different  mileage categories. There is a training ride for the next 2 Sundays that everyone is welcome to join (check the calendar on the website for more details). The Buff Classic is one of the best supported rides of the year and ends up on CU campus with a feast and a beer from one of our favorites Boulder Beer!. If you want more information on the Buff Classic simply email questions to info@bouldercyclingclub.com.

  CLUB CYCLING ADVOCACY PROGRAM
small logo

Club member Jim Miers has stepped up to help out with our Cycling Advocacy Program and is presently representing the club at meetings between the Sheriff's Department, Cycling Community and close in Mountain residents affected by the new Colorado Bike Safety Bill. Check out the article in the Daily Camera about the Canyon working group.

In addition, here is Jim's update on that issue and the proposed Boulder to Lyons Regional Trail

"We may be sending out an email survey to members to get feedback on issues and ideas for the Canyon Working Group.  Also, members should follow the progress of the debate on the proposed Boulder to Lyons Regional Trail.  Much of the trail will be on the service road of the Northern Colorado Water Conservation District Feeder Canal which is now closed to public access.  The trail will be terrific for cyclists, runners, and walkers - just ask those rogue Margarita Riders.  However, there is a group of homeowners along the canal who are opposing it.  The BCC will encourage members to give email input to the Boulder County Parks and Open Space Advisory Committee (POSAC) when the time comes."
