Late May 2009

Notes from the Prez:
I feel like the kids in my neighborhood that have been watching
the construction of the new park throughout the winter months and now
that it's almost open are just bubbling with excitement! The Cherryvale
Bridge officially opened last Friday making our route out to Eldo that
much more enjoyable and pleasurable. Join us Tuesday afternoon at 5:30
at Boulder Beer
for a ride out to Eldo Springs and have bragging rights to crossing the
bridge before any of your friends do! With the sudden summer weather
the liquid refreshment enjoyed after the ride on the back patio should
taste that much better!
Remember we still are riding on Thursday afternoon also. Last week
we did the Jamestown Loop and everyone enjoyed the downhill part of it.
This week we'll head north and do a "flats loop" out into the very
green countryside. Afterwards we meet up at Restaurant 4580 for more
liquid refreshments (not to mention some killer 'pomme fries'.
Speaking of refreshments, our faithful leader Steve is back in
town from his work related travels and is ready to lead out the
Margarita ride on Thursday night leaving from Serranos Restaurant
in Gunbarrel. This is mountain/hybrid bike oriented casual ride on dirt
roads and gravel trails throughout the Gunbarrel and surrounding
areas. Route varies weekly. Afterward meet up at Serrano's for a marg
on their patio! The ride kicks off at 5:30 in Serrano's parking lot.
Thanks for all those that stepped up and volunteered for the Wheelchair Support Team for the Bolder Boulder! Have fun riding your bikes in the road race for a good cause!
See you on the bike,

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST SPONSOR
|
|
We'd like to welcome our latest sponsor Elements Therapeutic Massage.
They are located in the Whole Foods Plaza in the newly remodeled
plaza between Whole Foods and Vitamin Cottage. I can personally attest
to their services as I recently got a massage and was impressed with
the "Elements Experience", as they call it. The goal is for the client to leave with a "feeling
cared for" experience. The space is very elegant yet they provide a
very comfortable and knowledgeable approach to massage. Focusing on my
cycling sore muscles with the knowledge that comes from years of
experience and being very athletically oriented themselves. We look
forward to working with the great staff at Elements. Watch for special
discounts offered to Boulder Cycling Club members in the near future! For more info click here. |
GIRO DE ITALIA
|
|
Want to see Lance in Italy? I recently discovered a new channel (9-3 on Comcast) that shows the Giro de Italia every night at 7:00 pm. Check out Lance and the boys up close and personal on a daily basis! - Donald

WAREHOUSE SALE AT BV
|
|

Coming up from our friends at Bicycle Village the annual Warehouse Sale on June 5, 6 and 7 located in the plaza where 24 hour fitness is now located at Iris and 28th in the old Ross store. I bought my Raleigh Mountain bike
there last year for a screaming deal so if you've been holding out for
a good sale this is the one! A huge selection of road, mountain and
cruisers will be available. Remember these prices are so low they will
not be honoring the 10% discount usually available to club members. The
discounts seem way better then 10% from what I saw last year. Get there
early though for best selection. For more information call Bicycle Village at 303.440-8525 or click here. |

VOLS NEEDED AT BIKE TO WORK DAY
|
|

Speaking of volunteers. Bike to work Month is right around the
corner. As a member of the Bike to Work Month Committee I see how hard
all these volunteers work to help put on all the events that go on in
the month of June. We are looking for club members to help us act as
Bicycle Ambassadors the morning of Bike to Work Day. You simply ride
your bike to a breakfast station and help collect data from the
commuters on what they thought of that breakfast station, did they
register online for the event--- a lot of people do not and this is the
only way the committee has to track the numbers of participants. It's
fun and easy and you get to meet a lot of new folks! For more
information feel free to email me at donald@bouldercyclingclub.com
