Cycling Club Sent You!

Issue: #1 Volume 12 Late, Late April 2009
Note from the Prez:

The cloud is lifting from my head so I'm ready to lead the North Boulder ride tonight at 5:30 from Restaurant 4580. We did the Jamestown Loop last week so this week we'll be doing an abbreviated Hygiene Loop heading out Hwy 36 to St. Vrain then circling back to Restaurant 4580. Average speeds 14 to 16mph. Approximate riding time 1 and 1/2 hours.

Steve our ride leader for the Margarita ride is unavailable tonight so that ride is cancelled. If your interested in helping out we could use another ride leader for the Thursday night Margarita Ride.

On another note congats to Steve and his family for putting on a great fund raiser on Sunday to raise funds for his daughter Kelsy's third Kidney Transplant. I was amazed at how much was donated for the silent auction, (including a year membership in the Boulder Cycling Club and a tshirt!) It was a great turnout and very inspiring to see so many people come out to support Steve and his family. Your passion and love for your daughter was obvious and heartwarming.

See you on the bike,

Donald C.

BICYCLE SAFETY BILL PASSES
small logo

The Senate Bill 148 (also know as the Bicycle Safety Bill) has officially been passed by the State legislature and is on it's way to Governor Bill Ritter' s desk for final decision. A lot of people do not know but the governor is an avid cyclist! In an article in the Daily Camera yesterday I was quoted as saying that I believe that most cyclists will use common sense and not take advantage of the new law. The motto of our club has always been "Safety First" and staying to the right in a bike lane just makes sense - Donald
