*Public support is essential to keeping quality programs on Alabama Public Television. It costs Alabama Public Television about $240 an hour to provide entertaining educational programs for the viewing audience. In 2008, Alabama Public Television won 14 "Parent's Choice Awards," for children's programming. During August 2, 2009-August 16, 2009 Alabama Public Television will be holding its annual Pledge Drive in place of its normal weekend programming, which will include AIDT's educational and workforce development show On The Job. On The Job will return to its regular time slot beginning August 23, 2009 at 12:30pm. On August 23 find out about the job opportunities in the field of special effects as On The Job visits with a special effects company called Snowmaster's located in Lexington, AL. August 23, 2009Host of On The Job, Bobby Jon Drinkard(left), listens as Francisco Guerra(right), one of the most in demand special effects leaders in the world, explains the machine that is creating the "snow" right in front of their very eyes. From white weddings to Hollywood film productions - located in Lexington, AL, Snowmaster's has been creating special effects that are used everywhere. Snowmaster's customers include: Walt Disney World, Disney Cruises, Paramount, Sea World, Legoland and many other well-known companies and organizations in and outside the USA. On The Job, spent the day with Snowmaster's and was very surprised about all of the career and educational opportunities that are located in the field of special effects. FREE WELDING CLASSES IN MOBILE!

 AIDT is now accepting applications for:
Welding Day Class beginning October 12, 2009 Held from 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday for 10 weeks. Welding Night Class beginning September 28, 2009. Held from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday for 12 weeks.
All applicants should apply IN PERSON at: Maritime Welding Training Center 1890 Third Street Mobile, AL 36615 (I-10 Exit 23, Brookley Complex, Corner of Michigan and Broad)
Classes will be held at the Bryant Career Technical Center in Irvington, Alabama for the citizens in South Mobile County.

- Leadership Development for team leaders and supervisors to develop quality leaders, improve retention and create employee loyalty and dedication.
- Maintenance Assessment
designed to help employers determine who to hire, promote and train for
maintenance service through written and performance assessments.
- Safety Assistance provides information and resources needed to meet U.S. Occupation Safety & Health Administration requirements.
- Process Improvement Assessment provides an independent third-party review of business processes related to lean manufacturing.
- AIDT EX+RA
assists businesses that do not traditionally qualify for AIDT services
and provides development of employee recruitment, trainer services,
success principles, performance assessment, creation of training
manuals and workbooks, multimedia instructor guides and training aids
and videographic company information.
Job seekers may also get help to prepare for employment through the 22
comprehensive community colleges and four technical colleges, Athens
State University and Alabama Technology Network in addition to AIDT.
The
Alabama Community College System provides general education and other
collegiate programs at the freshman and sophomore levels to prepare
students for transfer to four-year institutions to complete
baccalaureate degrees, as well as an upper division university that
provides selected baccalaureate programs.
ACCS Adult Education
focuses on improving individuals' skills, productivity and training
with GED preparation and testing, basic skills, and English as a Second
Language.
