helps Alabama employers grow and survive
|
Created in 1971, AIDT was designed to enhance existence and growth of Alabama's economic development through support for expansion of existing employers and establishment of new employers coming into Alabama. AIDT's expanded services help additional employers grow, as well as survive the current economic downturn.
Employers expanding services and sustaining current economy issues may acquire a new AIDT program for assistance with recruitment and training of potential and existing employees.
Our new service, AIDT+Extra, assists employers with development of:
- Employee recruiting ads
- Comprehensive and illustrated trainee manuals and workbooks
- Multimedia trainer instructor guides and presentation aids
- Trainer preparation manuals
- Performance assessment training
- Principles of daily success
- Videographic company information for trainees
Additional AIDT services, such as leadership development, industrial safety assessment, industrial maintenance technician assessment and process improvement, also help Alabama employers and employees survive and grow.
Employers benefit from AIDT services for recruitment, assessment and training of job seekers as well as training to help employers enhance existing employees. AIDT services are provided at no charge to employers, employees or job seekers because of the investment of taxpayers that provides funding for AIDT through the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education.
By providing funding for AIDT, taxpayers benefit from the existence and growth of businesses in Alabama through contribution businesses make to the state in general and through the careers businesses provide for taxpayers.
AIDT's Leadership Skills focus on basic skills supervisors need to be effective. Leadership Skills I major topics include roles and responsibilities, communication, motivation, and teamwork. Leadership Skills II builds on concepts discussed in Leadership Skills I program, including personality assessment, conflict management and ethics.
AIDT Industrial Safety Assessment conducts comprehensive programs through the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration Outreach Training Program. AIDT offers courses in construction and general industry safety and health standards. Employees receive OSHA-issued cards following completion of each program.
Our industrial safety assessments include opening and closing conferences with management, full facility walkthroughs, records review, employee interviews, and a detailed written report of findings and recommendations referenced to the applicable OSHA standard. We provide information and resources needed to meet OSHA training requirements.
AIDT Industrial Maintenance Technician Assessment Program puts candidates through written and practical tests to give employers information needed to choose qualified employees. Candidates' contact information, and we handle the rest. AIDT schedules, administers, and scores the assessments. Depending on your candidate's availability, we have the final report in your hands in as little as one week. The assessment methodology is refined and adjusted to stay current with technology, and candidates are only assessed on the skills required by employers to address unique maintenance requirements. AIDT Process Improvement Assessment is designed to continuously improve company processes. It is based on lean principles and utilizes improvement techniques to provide an independent third-party review of each company's business processes related to lean manufacturing. When automotive supplier ArvinMeritor Body Systems came into Alabama, in 2004, AIDT provided recruitment and training services to fill 98 jobs.
"AIDT has been a valuable resource to ArvinMeritor since the time that ArvinMeritor decided to locate into Montgomery,"said Ed Kershaw, ArvinMeritor Body Systems Human Resources Manager. "I can remember the earlier days when I worked with AIDT team members in the start-up of our two operations and I can honestly say that since that time, there has been no decline in the quality of work that AIDT has delivered us."
ArvinMeritor was the first to receive AIDT+Extra services in 2008.
"On behalf of ArvinMeritor's Montgomery operations, I wish to express my thanks for the great job that your team members did in creating and developing a pre-employment training program for this site," said Kershaw. "The quality of the video, workbook and leaders guide was outstanding. The information contained in this material will be a great resource in orientating our potential new employees to ArvinMeritor and the operations of the Montgomery facility. I look forward to using this material in our pre-employment training classes for many years to come."
