Cruise with On The Job to learn unique shipyard jobs
| Billy Elmore(right), Shipyard Supervisor at C&G Boatworks in Mobile, explains the day-to-day operations of his shipyard for On The Job host Bobby Jon Drinkard. Unique and multi-dimensional shipyard industry jobs in the Mobile Bay area specialize in fabrication, construction of steel and aluminum, and repairs and conversions for offshore marine. On The Job visits with C&G Boatworks to find where and how people can learn these skills, and then cruises across the Mobile Bay to AIDT's Maritime Welding Center created to help meet growing maritime skills training needs in coordination with BuildMobile. The 10-week training program teaches aluminum and steel welding techniques and shipfitting as well as other shipbuilding skills based on employersʼ production processes.
