On the Job crew spent the day with employees at the Alabama State Port Authority to learn about lucrative jobs in the port city. Alabama State Port AuthorityHeadquartered in Mobile, the Alabama State Port Authority owns and operates Alabama's deepwater port facilities and directly employs 670 workers. The port public facilities handled 27 million tons of cargo last year and has been ranked the 10th largest port in the U.S. Learn more at www.asdd.com.

Riley praises diverse economy

Governor says 'no one does it better than' Huntsville.
Gov. Bob Riley applauded the Huntsville area's economic mix, saying diversification helps to flatten the economy's cyclical patterns. "Alabama has the most diverse economy of all the 50 states, but no one does it better than you," Riley said in an Alabama Update luncheon Wednesday at the Von Braun Center. The event, hosted by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, drew about 1,100 people.
