Storytime with Clifford Greetings!

Sparky's Pals is off to a good start for 2008! We've had our first fund-raiser of the year (thanks to everyone at Strong's Everyday Tavern), met Clifford the Big Red Dog at Barnes and Noble's Storytime and are continuing to deliver our Girl Scout workshops. With your continued support, we look forward to a great '08!

Eating for Education
At Strong's
We celebrated Sparky's Birthday on February 10 at Strong's Everyday Tavern, while "Eating for Education."

We raised over $400 in donations for the evening, and found sponsors for 30 copies of "A Home For Nathan", one of the books we read at Mi Escuelita, as well as at Storytime at Barnes & Noble.

The donated copies will be distributed to the classroom libraries at Mi Escuelita as we visit the various campuses. Thanks to all who attended and donated!
"A Home for Nathan" Donors

These generous sponsors provided copies of "A Home for Nathan" during Eating for Education. Sparky's Pals (and the children) thank you all!

March 2 - All About Education!
Storytime with Clifford
Our next volunteer meeting is Sunday, March 2nd from 2pm until 4pm at the Ridgewood-Belcher Recreation Center near White Rock Lake in Dallas.

This meeting is all about our education programs! We will be presenting one of our Girl Scout workshops to give those who have not attended an idea of what happens "in the field."

If you've considered presenting with us or want to help even more directly with what we do, this is the meeting for you!

March 15 - St Paddy's Day Pooch Party
We'll be at the St Paddy's Day Pooch Party on March 15th from 10am until 1pm at East Lake Highlands Park in The Colony. Wear green! We will have childrens' crafts and educational materials.

Bring your pet (crated or leashed.)

Coming Soon! Miniature Golf Tournament!

We are planning a miniature golf tournament fund-raiser for later this year, probably in late April. Speedzone on I-35 and Walnut Hill in Dallas has agreed to host us - thanks for their support!

We'll have more information soon, including sign-up sheets.

Please start thinking about how many of your friends you would like to bring along! Also, think about anything you or your company would like to donate for prizes!

Spot The Error!
Bubba is Sparky's older brother, and is the unofficial proofreader for the newsletter. So, here is tBubba, Editinghis month's challenge: Read the entire newsletter carefully, and find the error! I know it's here, because every month, just after I hit "Send", I see it. Ten minutes later, Virginia mentions it to me. Send an email with the error to [email protected] - there's no prize, but you can feel good about correcting me and doing a better job than Bubba!
May I Pet Your Dog?May I Pet Your Dog?

Donate one copy of "May I Pet Your Dog?" for distribution to our school (and pre-school) partners. "May I Pet Your Dog?" is a very good introduction for young children on how to approach pets properly. We read it to many of the classes we visit as it re-enforces the messages we are teaching.

We would like to be able to leave a copy of this book behind every time we visit a classroom. Your name (or any name you prefer) will be added to the bookplate - please let us know what you would like for your inscription.

Help with our Printing Costs

Please help us defray our printing costs! The more people we visit, the more copies we need (it's a good problem to have.)

Donation: $20
As always, I appreciate everyone's support for Sparky's Pals! We are planning a busy Spring with workshops for Mi Escuelita and the Girl Scouts plus rescue (and other public) events. We are planning even more for this summer, as well (more in the next newsletter.) I hope to see you soon at one of our events.

Sincerely,
