Bluegrass Guitar Class- Beginner to intermediate levels
All ages & ability levels welcome!

Next class - Saturday, January 22, 1-4pm

The Bluegrass Guitar Class meets once a month on Saturday afternoons, 1 to 4pm, in the Yamaha Room of Maytan Music Store, 777 S. Center Street, Reno.

At each class session, students will learn one tune.  Three aspects of each tune will be taught: 1) the rhythm part; 2) an "easy" solo part; and 3) an "intermediate" solo part.  Tunes are drawn from the repertoire of "bluegrass standards".  Students will get hand-outs (chord charts and tablature), as well as a CD with practice tracks for each tune.  The only pre-requisite is that you have a guitar and can change simple chords fluidly (G,C,D, etc.).

Fee for each class session is $20.  Students may take one or all of the classes, as each class is a "stand-alone" lesson.  Instructor is Cindy Gray, former Instructor at the Maryville, TN. Steve Kaufman Acoustic Kamp.  Full schedule available here.

Clogging Instruction
Clogging, or clog dancing, is a lively dance with roots in Irish jig, English country dances, Scottish dances, African steps and rhythms and even a bit of Cherokee Indian. It is a percussive dance, meaning the dancers beat out rhythms with their feet. Settlers brought their own dances and music to the Southern Appalachian Mountain area, where they were relatively isolated from other parts of the country. These steps and styles mixed together into what we now call clogging. Clogging classes in Reno are offered by "Cloggers Anonymous".  More information at clogreno@charter.net or call 775-972-0583.
