Our 2011 events include:
- Instrumental Workshops with Bluegrass Etc. members, John Moore and Dennis Caplinger, February 5-6 John will teach mandolin and guitar and Dennis will teach fiddle and banjo. These guys are incredible performers, studio players and instructors. Check out this Youtube for a tiny taste of what they can do! More info here.
- Six FREE shows, in partnership with the Washoe County Libraries, February through March (click here for details)
- An Evening with Alaska's Fiddling Storyteller, Ken Waldman, Saturday, Feb. 26 ~ (click here for details)
- Appalachian Music & Dance a six week course at Truckee Meadows Community College, March 24 to April 28
- 6th Annual Steve Kaufman Guitar Workshop & Concert, April 15-16. For all levels of guitar players who want to learn bluegrass-style flatpicking guitar from America's most respected guitar teacher. Go here for more info.
- The Americana Festival in Historic Virginia City, NV July 8-10, featuring double Grammy nominee, Darrell Scott!
If you already know Darrell,
then we don't need to say anything.
But, if you've never experienced him, you will be blown away. He's written dozens of Top 40 Country hits (recognize this one?), and has 8 solo albums. His solo work is exquisite, and he's also one of the most
in-demand session players in Nashville
(he plays 14 instruments!). He regularly partners with many of our favorites---Tim O'Brien, Emmy Lou Harris, Jerry Douglas.
Most recently, he's been playing with Robert Plant's Band of Joy. Darrell's up for 2 Grammys this year!
