Good friend and incredible musician, Jimmy Ruggiere will be performing some "farewell concerts" before he moves back to Austin, TX (boo hoo, we'll miss you, Jimmy!). You may recognize Jimmy as a member of local band, "Westwind". Did you also know that he toured with Travis Tritt back in the 90's? He's a real pro! Catch one of these great shows, where he'll be playing with Westwind and another visiting pro, Rod Phillips, who is a prominent studio player from Branson, MO. These shows will feature a great mix of acoustic musicians playing some favorite country, bluegrass and folk tunes. Their vocal harmonies are exquisite! Saturday, Jan. 23, 7:30, Maytan Music Store, $10. Friday, Jan. 29, 7:30, Red Dog Saloon, no cover. Sunday, Jan. 31, 4pm, House Concert, Reno, $10 For details, email to renobassgal@gmail.com or call 775-233-0122

Randal Wilder has been playing the Reno scene for many years, and he sent me a note recently saying that his current band is better than ever. He's got Bay Area fiddler, Tommy Wester playing in the band now, and he describes their sound as, "...mixing bluegrass feel with New Riders of the Purple Sage, John Prine, and Steve Earle...Bluegrass and Irish folk seem to creep into my orginals." Catch them on Tuesday nights at the Black Tangerine in South Reno (9825 S. Virginia St. - Reno, 775-853-5003).
