4th Annual Steve Kaufman Concert 
Note change in start time for this event
Saturday night, October 25, 8:30pm at Great Basin Brewing Company in Sparks. The world's only 3-time winner of the National Flatpicking Championship will be in concert! Doc Watson, not one to mince words, says of Steve, "The boy can pick!" If you've seen him in concert before, you know what a mind-boggling player he is (not to mention his comedy skills!). If you haven't been to a Steve Kaufman concert before....please join the Reno family of "Steve-heads" for this annual event. $12 in advance; $15 at the door. Deadline approaching! Calling all bands who wish to be considered for our 2009 season of festivals and concerts! We have booked almost all of our headliners for 2009 (wait till you hear who we've got!! -- Announcement soon!). Saturday, Oct. 11, 7:30-10:30Plumas Park Gym, 475 Monroe St., just off Plumas, 6 blocks south of California St. Contra Dance with live fiddle tunes played by "Coyote Thistle" with caller, Tina Fields. The dance fee is $10.00. Sponsored by the Sierra Contra Dance Society. If you've never danced this style of "line" or "group" dance, come at 7:00 for a quick lesson. This jam is for folks who have a basic knowledge of bluegrass music, who want to work on "hot licks" or learn new songs. We stick to a moderate tempo, but still try to keep it challenging. Saturday, Oct. 18, 6-9pm Reno Livestock Event Center "Halloween Howl" Costume ball for animals (and their people). Howl at the moon and help animals at the same time! Live bluegrass music, trick and treating for your pets, best dressed dog and cat contests, a pet psychic, raffles, silent auctions, free photos of your pets and much more! Don't have a pet? Come anyhow to celebrate this hauntingly fun evening! This event is a fundraiser for the Shakespeare Animal Fund, a wonderful animal rescue organization.
