| *Community Spirit Once Again Brings Great Music to Fallon |
|
| A little over a year ago, John Grantham, a Fallon musican, got some friends together in a Fallon pizza parlor to discuss reviving the Desert Oasis Music Festival---the event that had brought musical legends such as John Hartford, John McEuen, The U.S. Navy Band, and J.D. Crowe and the New South to Fallon during the 90's.
Of course, it takes a lot of community support to put on such an event. And Fallon really came through again in 2008, just like it did in the 90's! The Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority made grant money available, and sponsorships were secured from local businesses including CC Communicatons, Raley's, Jetway Chevrolet, Charter Communications and others.
Dee Gregory the community-minded owner of radio station KHWG in Fallon (AM 750 "Classic Country") got on board in a big way, offering his particular expertise in producing musical events.
Local graphic artist and music lover, Jim Moore---who had been the "man behind the scenes" during the 90's when this festival garnered acclaim throughout the West---once again donated countless hours and effort to bring this festival back to life.
Please support the efforts of these great folks---come out and enjoy the great music!
