August, 2008 Announcements

For the fourth year in a row, Steve Kaufman will be returning to Reno this October to offer his award-winning flatpicking guitar instruction.  Information and registration forms are now available at our website.  Register early, this workshop always fills up!  A personal testimonial to Steve's instructional expertise: I have attended 17 Steve Kaufman Flatpicking Workshops!  And I have learned something new in every one!  Every one has inspired me to play more and learn new tunes.  And I believe (hope!) that each one has improved my playing.  So, if you're a guitar player (or you know one) who wants to improve your skills at playing leads and back-up, don't miss this opportunity.  Steve only comes out West a couple times a year---Spring in Portland, OR. And Fall in Reno.  Click here  for more information and registration details.

If you can't make it to one of our jams, concerts or dances, get your bluegrass fix on the radio!  We're very lucky to have 3 great radio shows here in northern Nevada that feature bluegrass music:

Jimbo's Juke Joint & Acoustic Roadhouse Café.  NEW TIME - Saturday afternoons, 2pm, FM 88.7 KUNR.  Jimbo showcases his incredible collection of bluegrass and eclectic acoustic recordings---everything under the bluegrass sun (and then some!).  We like to think of it as JimboGrass!

The Risky Biscuit Hayseed Hoot with Don Darue, Saturday mornings, 8:00-10:00am  FM 100.1 KTHX, The X.  Dondo plays music that will definitely put the twang back in your thang!

Into The Blue, nationally syndicated bluegrass radio show hosted by Terry Herd, Saturdays and Sundays at noon on AM 750, KHWG.

The Nevada Bluegrass Project is funded in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Nevada Arts Council, the City of Reno Arts and Culture Commission and charitable contributions from our supporters.
