We've Heard You....Loud and Clear!

It's been great to see so many of you at festivals and camps this summer.  We really appreciate your comments and suggestions for what you'd like to see us do.
The one thing we've heard most of all was....you want to jam!
So,  we've got several jams coming up---starting tomorrow!
Slow Jam
Friday, July 18, 7pm at Cindy Gray's house.  850 Atlas Ct. On the north side of town, just above the UNR campus (directions below)  ALL PICKERS WELCOME! We keep to a slow tempo so everyone can get their hot licks in ;-)  Download the free song book here .

Directions: From the corner of N. McCarran and N. Virginia -- go east on McCarran to the first signal, Socrates, and turn left (uphill).  Then take the 1st left on Achilles.  Then take the 2nd left on Atlas Ct.  It's a cul-de-sac and the house is halfway down on the left.  Tan, 2-story, the number 850 is on the mailbox.  If you get lost, call 348-4692.
Fiddle Tune Jam
Saturday, July 26, 7pm  at Cindy Gray's house (see directions above).  We play fiddle tunes over and over, giving breaks to those who want them.  We start slow, but try to work our way up to "dance tempo".  For a list of tunes that we play (with chords), go here and scroll down.  These are the tunes most commonly played at Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp, and most of the tunes we play are on this list.  But you certainly don't have to know all 50 to come to our jam---start with 1 or 2!
SPECIAL THANKS to Phil Cornish of the band, "Bound To Ride".  Phil's a columnist for the California Bluegrass Association, and he wrote a "rave review" of our Bluegrass on the Comstock Festival.  Read it here.

Bluegrass Fan Appreciation Day!
Sunday, August 24, 3 - 8pm  at Great Basin Brewing Co., Victorian Square in Sparks.  Appetizers and first round of beers will be on us!
Inside, from 3-6pm, Cindy Gray will present a free demonstration on the history of bluegrass singing (with samples from historical recordings), followed by a "sing along" workshop.  This will be an abbreviated version of the workshop Cindy presents at Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp each summer in Tennessee.  Only you don't have to travel thousands of miles or pay hundreds of dollars---you get it for free, right here in Reno!
Outdoors, starting at 6pm, there will be "Bluegrass Karaoke" with local musicians from The Nevada Bluegrass Project.  Here's how it works:  the musicians will back YOU up on a bluegrass song of your choosing.  Just tell them what key you want to sing or play in, and then step up to the microphone!  If you've never done it before, "Bluegrass Karaoke" is a blast!  The audience REALLY loves it!
Then, at 7:30pm, The Nevada Bluegrass Project will hold a special "Appreciation Awards Ceremony" to honor the wonderful folks who've helped us during our first three years in business.
Please join us---and bring all your friends---for this special FREE celebration.  It's our way of saying "Thanks" to all of you, and to let you know what exciting plans we have for the future!
