Start off the New Year right with Stewart's Insurance Depot
Hello   ,

Happy New Years to you!  We hope you had a very Merry Christmas and are experiencing a Happy New Year.  We at Stewart's Insurance Depot are very excited for the New Year and have set many goals that we will accomplish.  Mrs. Jami Daliege is now a life and health agent for the states of Georgia, Florida and Maryland.  Jami will also be doing her wonderful work on our website and admin until we find a new admin for our office.  Please welcome Jami and contact her for your insurance needs.

Have you had the time to make any new year's resolutions for you and your loved ones?

Lots of changes in the insurance industry will be happening this New Year.  Will we have Obamacare and if we do what will the effects be?  Regarding Medicare, will there be adverse changes taking place in how Medicare is facilitated and funded?  What will the changes in group major medical and other insurance products be effective by Washington?  This is the place to find out the latest information.  We are setting up our website areas where you can get the latest news.  Also, we will have special links from our newsletters so you can jump to those pages.

As we continue to update our website with current information for you, we also want to provide better ways for you to get in contact with us.  We are now able to video chat with you via Skype!  There is a Skype button on the Contact Us page of our website.  If it says we are available, feel free to call so we can connect via video chat.  If you do not have skype and need assistance with setting up an account and would like to schedule a meeting, please email Jami, jami_stewartsinsure@yahoo.com, and she will help you out.  This is a new and exciting feature we are using at Stewart's Insurance Depot to be able to talk to our current and potential clients nationwide, face-to-face!

We wish to thank all of you for your continued interest in our newsletter.  Don't forget to Like Us on Facebook so you can stay updated with Stewart's Insurance Depot. Feel free to refer your friends to this newsletter and other features we have available.  Again, Happy New Year and may this year be better and full of prosperity.

Is Buying Insurance One of Your New Year's Resolutions?

We have all heard the same resolutions year after year...

"This year I will lose weight!"

"This year I will quit smoking!"

"This year I will spend more time with my family!"

"This year I will learn something new!"

These are all great resolutions that are highly encouraged (see our next article below) but how long will they last?  And how long will it take you to achieve them?  Why set these life goals only one time a year when you can set them for yourself every day of the year?  Stewart's Insurance Depot would like to propose a new resolution to your list (or maybe be the start of a list for those who do not have one):

Consider puchasing a life insurance plan to protect your family in case the unthinkable happens.

This can be a great peace of mind that you have provided the lost income to help them through the difficult times.  By investing in a plan now, say from six to 10 times your current income, you can prepare for your future and know that your family will be protected.

New Year's Resolutions that can Help Lower Your Premiums
Family
I personally do not have New Year's Resolutions.  My New Year's Resolution is to not have any.  But for those of you who are looking for resolutions, here are some which might be of interest.

In our article above, we talked about how you should add "buying insurance" to your New Year's Resolution list.  In addition to that, we would also like to suggest some other resolutions you can add to your list that could quite possibly help lower your premiums.

Quit Smoking.
Whether you currently have insurance or are ready to apply for insurance, individuals who do not smoke will have lower premiums because they are a better risk to manage than those individuals who do smoke.  Smoking can raise your premiums from 25 to 45% over a preferred class.  If you have insurance and have quit for longer than a year, you might be able to receive a lower premium on your major medical by simply asking your agent how to get a premium reduction.

Eat healthy and exercise more.
Being overweight can affect your major medical insurance rate by changing from a preferred to one of the higher based standard rates.  Again, losing weight is sometimes hard.  I know for a fact but I have lost over 30 pounds and hopefully will be losing another 25 pounds so I can feel better and have a reduction in my insurance.  Don't forget you may have a positive effect on your life insurance rates also.  Being overweight can lead to various health issues such as diabetes and heart disease.  By getting into an exercise routine and a better diet, you can help eliminate the risk of being faced with one of these health issues.  Individuals who do not have these major health risks typically pay less on insurance than those who do.

Reduce your alcohol consumption.
It is important to keep control of your alcohol consumption to stay in good health and also to cut down on other risk factors associated with over-consumption of alcohol (for example, making a poor decision to get behind a wheel under the influence and end up with a DUI).  DUI's are permanent on your driving record and insurance companies may look at this record, in addition to your medical record, when determining your premium.  Keeping a clean record can help you obtain a lower premium.

Keep your resolution(s) all year long!
The best thing to do when making a resolution list is to be sure that you keep it!  These are all goals you should try to achieve permanently, not temporarily, so that in return you can help yourself by saving money on your insurance.

By acting now to work towards the resolutions you have set for yourself, you can help save money.  We look forward to a bright and successful 2012 and so should you!.  Contact us today and visit our website for more information.

Getting Married? Having Kids? Owning a Home?

Are Your Finances and Your Family Protected?

A vast majority of our Gen Y population (which includes those born from 1979 to 1994) are experiencing the most life changes than those of older generations.  This age group most typically finds themselves settling down and getting married, having children of their own, becoming a homeowner or are changing jobs.  These are all a list of life changes that come with a longer list of financial expenses and obligations, including:
  • Mortgage payment
  • Taxes
  • Childcare fees
  • Utilities
  • Transportation (Car payments)
  • Food

Don't forget your "Y" Generation people will have a large number of centenarians and it will be uncommon for people living past 110 years.  The best action you can take NOW is to plan and have the right insurance to give you that peace of mind.

So what happens when an individual passes away unexpectedly with a spouse and two children left behind?  Will the surviving spouse be able to cover all of the daily living expenses and still be able to provide for their two children on their salary alone?  If someone depends on you financially, you NEED to be covered.  The purpose of life insurance is to help your family cover the daily living expenses so that they do not need to drastically change their life.

We have updated the Life Insurance portion of our website to provide you with more information on why there is a need for life insurance, how to determine how much you need, and the different types of life insurance.  Please check it out today and become more informed.  Give us a call if you have any questions or would like to sign-up for a product.

It is important to remember, that with life insurance, the younger you are when you apply the lower your premiums may be.  Why wait until later in life when your premiums will be higher and start protecting your family TODAY!  Check out our Term & Permanent Life Insurance page of the website.
