Greetings! I interact with a variety of leaders when conducting interviews for my Business Column in the Telegraph Journal, Leadership Unleashed, and in my role as an executive coach. Every single meeting seems to contain a valuable lesson, and I have noticed some distinct patterns emerging as I talk to leaders. One example is the discipline some people have in taking time to reflect - no easy task in today's busy world - and using this information to be intentional about their future in the pursuit of the growth and development of their organization.

As we look forward to 2012, I thought it would be interesting to ask three New Brunswick leaders with different backgrounds, representing different sectors of the economy, what they learned from the last year and what they are looking forward to in 2012. The leaders are Gerry Pond, Chairman of Mariner Partners, Debbie Cooper, Executive Director of the Saint John Boys and Girls Club and Dan Martell, co-founder of Clarity.fm.

Kevin Dickie

When I interviewed Kevin last year, he was leading the UNB Varsity Reds, recognized regionally and nationally as a top overall program. In August 2011, Acadia University announced that they hired seasoned coach and athletic administrator Kevin Dickie as its new Director of Athletics.
I started our conversation by asking Kevin about the elements of a high-performance environment?
