| Fresh Ideas | April 15, 2010 |
Greetings!
It's time for me to move over a little bit (just a little!) and, for a change, let some of the brilliant coaches on our Vision Coaching team answer a few questions and take turns sharing their wisdom, ideas and philosophies with you.
Hey...I just noticed that my picture got smaller! Maybe that's because today's message isn't about me, it's about one of our east coast Vision Coaches specializing in change and transitions, Cony Brienza. Watch for the next issue of Fresh Ideas - I'll be sharing my first Interview with a Leader, your opportunity to see what leaders from our community, and beyond, are doing to lead effectively. Lots to learn! Stay tuned... Share and Grow, Dave
PS: If you have a question you would like me to ask our Vision Coaches, please send it to me! I'll share their responses in future issues.

Getting to know Cony...
Cony Brienza, MEd | Q: What made you decide to become a coach? Coaching was the skill set I developed in my management life and later in my consulting life as a change agent.
Q: What book are you reading now? The Fifth Agreement by Don Miguel Ruiz and Don Jose Ruiz. I would recommend this book to those who have practiced The Four Agreements in their life journey. The Fifth Agreement reflects a new and modern age when we are overwhelmed by the amount and variety of information and data. The Fifth Agreement is helpful in using our discernment and wisdom as we come to conclusions between what is helpful and what is just interesting! If you are already familiar with The Four Agreements, simply skip to the Fifth Agreement.
Q: What is your philosophy on leadership? Effective
leaders let others know what they can be trusted to do. Commitment to
professed principles, good judgment, and the ability to enlist others
in the development of ideas set the foundation for productive teamwork
and strong players. The most powerful leadership is the empowerment of
me.
Q: What are you "doing differently"? I've changed the application I use for communication -- I am totally on the internet -- Google mail, Google calendar and moving to understand Google docs. I have internet land line phone service and cannot even imagine not having access to the internet 24/7. How is this changing me? It is causing me to think differently -- time and distance are only scheduling issues; meetings are no longer anchored to place, rather to phone numbers or internet addresses. Information is no longer trapped in paper documents or libraries -- it is easily accessible 24/7 -- facts, opinions, truths -- they all look the same, so my discernment needs to be more tuned. Why have I changed?Because this is where the world is living. I believe as we evolve in this information age, we will tune in telepathically and be guided to access one another as the need arises.

Here's an excerpt... "You need a coach, everybody needs a coach! The one thing people are never good at is seeing themselves as others see them. A coach really, really helps."
