| Welcome to the Coyote Times! |
|
It's been a long winter here in Minnesota, colder and snowier than normal. We are all very ready for spring. I'm hoping for milder weather in Philly this week coming up, some years we go the bulbs are blooming, some years it's a blizzard! Who knows?
Please send this on to a friend for us! It won't sign them up for additional letters unless they subscribe. To forward use the "Forward to a Friend" click box above or at the end, otherwise they won't get the whole newsletter. Thank you.

The Buyers Market of American Craft opens Friday February 13th, and Betsy is headed to Philadelphia to find new work and new artists for the gallery. Her daughter Morgan will meet her there and they have four days on the show floor. Besides looking for new work for our gallery, it's a time for renewal and inspiration. Just being around all that amazing work makes you want to come home and experiment! Watch upcoming newsletters to see what we find.

| We've gone high -tech-- Tom's on YouTube! |
| |
|
Duane Hovensten came by one afternoon to make mischief, and ended up taking our camera and making a video of Tom throwing soup bowls, which is now onYouTube! I don't know who was more surprised that it worked, Duane, Tom or my kids to see it there.
Keep tuned for more--now Tom wants one of me glazing pots and firing the kiln and Michele loading kilns. Amazing! |

| The color for 2009 is Mimosa |
|
|
Each year Pantone chooses their new color of the year, and for 2009 it is Mimosa.
"Yellow is the color of change, of hopefulness, of warmth and of good cheer," says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. Pantone provides color standards widely used in most design industries, and the Color Institute is its research group.
The Color Marketing Group of Alexandria, Va (of which Betsy's father was a longtime member) also has yellow on their list for 2009. Pictured is our large tureen in the Yellow Salt glaze...as close to Mimosa as you can get. |

And the winner is...Pistachio! |
|
|
We needed your help. We had been working on names for our glazes for the past few years, so we ran a contest last December for a new name for this glaze. We were amazed at all of the great suggestions we were given, it was hard to narrow it down. The winner is Ms. A. LaPorte of Hutchinson, MN with the name " Pistachio". She gets a $25 gift certificate for the gallery. But we feel we need to add another prize, so Trudy Latt of Dassel, MN gets the runner up prize ($25 gift certificate) for the sheer number of suggestions! Trudy stopped in the gallery to take a close look at the glaze for inspiration and sent a list of 20 names! I think we may pull another one off her list for a different new glaze we are working on as well!
Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions! |

We have introduced you to all of our staff,(Ann, Michele and Valerie) but here is one of the three that we work for. Maggie is always keeping an eye on us to make sure we keep working--more cat food for her! Better check all of our casseroles before we put them in the oven! By the way, this was an extra large custome order casserole!

| Congratulations to this month's winner! |
|
|
Congratulations to Kathy Gilhousen of Hutchinson for winning the drawing for a $25 gift certificate for the gallery.
You could be next month's winner if you fill out a card with your email address on it when you stop in the gallery. We also sell Gift Certificates in the store and on the website if you need quick help and aren't sure what to get.
