Summer is finally here in Minnesota, so it's busy everywhere. Our friends are coming back to their cabins on the weekends, travelers stop in from our highway signs, and we are busy in the studio. If you have friends or relatives visiting, bring them by the studio and we'll show them around. Especially on those rainy days where you can't get in the garden or out on the lake.
Please send this on to a friend for us! It won't sign them up for additional letters unless they subscribe. To forward use the "Forward to a Friend" click box above or at the end, otherwise they won't get the whole newsletter. Thank you.

Shelley and Michael Buonaiuto met while studying sculpture and painting at the University of Massachusetts in 1968. After a few vagabond years, their spiritual search led them to the study of Gurdjieff, a Greek Caucasian spiritual master, at Chardavogne Barn in New York. There Shelley began to study pottery, making criches and small figures, and Michael, after a few seasons as a stone mason (in debt to his Italian ancestry) joined her in 1975. Besides sculpting, Michael was a skilled mold-maker. Michael and Shelley began to dream in Spanish, so they sold their house and headed to South America before settling in Santa Fe, NM in 1984. Now you will find them in Fayetteville, AR, where they just moved to be closer to grandchildren.
We love the feeling of joy you get when you look at their faces, so real, so moving.

Meet our staff! This month is Michele Ebert |
|
We like to tell you a little more about the people you see and talk to when you call or come into our gallery and pottery. Besides Tom and I, we have Ann, Michele and new this summer- Valerie.
Michele came to us through a recommendation of our neighbor, Jerry Notch. (Not that we hold that against her, though :)
First Michele was out in the gallery, but after Katy learned that she was pregnant, Michele moved back to the studio with Tom & I.
She is a natural in the pottery, doing all the clay prep for Tom, loading bisque kilns, unloading glaze kilns, mixing glazes, plus now she has been working on her handbuilding skills and is making slab built handled trays. You will see those on the website this month. When we give her a few extra minutes, she also has been learning how to throw and trim her own pots.
Oh, did I mention she also is the one responsible for the beautiful garden out front of the gallery???
She is a valuable part of the Coyote Family, plus she keeps Tom in line back in the studio!!! |
| Wedding registry |
Summer also means weddings, so if you or someone you know is interested in a set of dishes for their registry, just give us a call and we will set up a time to work out a personalized set, plus serving pieces. You can visit the section of the website, view our tableware, to get ideas. Many of the artists we represent in the gallery also have sets of dishes as well as ours.
You can also include work from any of the gallery artists...pottery, glass, and new decorative pieces for the home.
We handle all the calls and paperwork for the bride and groom and deliver a beautiful set just after the wedding. We can also supply registry cards and letters to accompany the wedding and shower invitations.
Call us now to set up your time to discuss what will be a treasured memory and dishes that will last. No better way to give a wedding gift and start a new life, than a handmade piece of functional art. | |
Thanks for taking the time to read about us. Please let us know if there is something you would like to see or hear about on these pages. We love to hear from you! Visit the Clay Coyote blog to keep up with other news.
Sincerely,

| Coming Soon---Tagines |
 |
Tom & I have been working on developing a new clay body that can actually be used right on your stovetop which is a requirement for a traditional tagine. We got started on this when Paula Wolfert, asked us to make a tagine, and we needed to find a new clay body that could handle the stovetop. After much testing, we are pretty close to having them available through our website.

| Art Show Season |
This month we will be heading over for the Highland Fest Art Fair in St. Paul on July 18-19-20. It's at the corner of Cleveland and Ford Parkway, and we are in booth 32.

| Our 5th season--Construction |
Everyone in Minnesota knows when summer comes, the detour signs and road blocks go up. Hutchinson has more than it's fair share this summer. There is a detour on MN Hwy 7, a short detour on MN Hwy 12 and they are now putting a roundabout on MN Hwy 15. Tom has detailed instructions on our website on how to deal with these buggers. Call us if you are coming out, and we'll give you the best way to come. Or, UPS still comes every day and we can ship something to you, or if you live in Hutch, we'll deliver it personally!! |
