The Coyote Times
Hutchinson,  Minnesota
Forward to a Friend Summer is finally here in Minnesota, so it's busy everywhere. Our friends are coming back to their cabins on the weekends, travelers stop in from our highway signs, and we are busy in the studio.  If you have friends or relatives visiting bring them by the studio and we'll show them around.  Especially on those rainy days where you can't get in the garden or out on the lake.

Please send this on to a friend for us! It won't sign them up for additional letters unless they subscribe.  To forward use the "Forward to a Friend" click box above or at the end, otherwise they won't get the whole newsletter.  Thank you.

Featured gallery artist  is "Leaf Leather Designs"
This month we would like to tell you a bit more about another of our favorite artists.  CL Whiting of Buckley, WA has been making her signature purses and accessories for over 20 years.  Combining her love of nature and leatherwork has resulted in beautiful pieces of art in leather that you can carry with you everyday.  They are original one-of-a-kind pieces of art and no two will ever be the same.  Your new Leather Leaf purse or accessory will give you lasting joy for years to leaf leather bagcome. You  can see more of her work at Clay Coyote Gallery or call us at 888 737 4014.
Ann smilingMeet our staff! This month is Ann Lewandowski

We would like to tell you a little more about the people you see and talk to when you call or come into our gallery and pottery.  Besides Tom and I, we have Ann, Michele and new this week- Valerie.
Ann came to us as a customer years ago, and then saw our sign on the window for help in the gallery in 2004.  Whether you come into the gallery or call over the phone, Ann always has an infectious smile and is willing to do whatever she can to help you find just the right piece.
Besides all the work keeping the gallery in order, she also has been learning all about our website and has been keeping busy trying to keep it updated.
When she isn't here, she is trying to keep sane with four kids and a husband at home. We value her friendship!
Table settings

Fahey table settingThis is a good time to get your order in for your set of dishes.  Pictured here is a set we did for our good friends, Jim & Linda.  We like going over to dinner and enjoying how beautifully these pieces fit into their gorgeous craftsman style home.  Visit the 'custom work' section of the website, view our tableware, and then call us to work out a set that fits your home or cabin.

New website is live!
The new website is up and running and we really need some feedback. We welcome any and all thoughts on what may have worked well, but more so, please let us know what may not have worked as well as you would have liked it too.   We truly and honestly do want to know so we can fix things.
It's really three websites....one home site for the pottery, one for the gallery and a store site where you can buy both pottery and gallery items on a single shoping cart.
Go to www.claycoyote.com for our pottery and www.claycoyotegallery.com  to see the work in the gallery.

We have a long way to go to get more images up, but it has been a slow process.

Please let us know what you think!!!!
News from the farm

oriole and goldfinch Things are all turned upside down this year, what a goofy spring! The tulips and trees are all blooming at the same time, but the birds are starting to come back in force, and Tom is trying to keep up with the oranges, grape jelly and thistle seed to keep these guys happy.  US Fish and Wildlife came out to do a controlled burn on part of our prairie and it came back to life after a week.  The wood ducks have new nests this year, thanks to Jerry Notch, but still no osprey out on our nest.  Maybe next year.  Visit the Clay Coyote blog for more.

Art Show Season

summer art fairSummer is here, which means it is art show season.  If you are in the Minnesota or Illinois area, you can see us at the Edina Art Fair May 30-31 and June 1st, or at the Excelsior Art Fair June 7-8th.  We will be back at the Evanston Art Fair, north of Chicago on August 2-3rd, and the Frankfort Fall Fest, south of Chicago over Labor Day.  See our website for our full schedule for the year.

Thanks for taking the time to read about us.  Please let us know if there is something you would like to see or hear about on these pages.  We love to hear from you!

Jewelry Trunk Show!

May 23-26th
Memorial Day weekend
interior gallery
This weekend!!

This is the first time we have had a trunk sale, and it's going to be a good one.  We have talked with 7 of the jewelers whose work we carry, and they are excited about sending us gobs of new work, much you will never have seen before. We have silver and gold jewelry from Ed Levin; new Venetian glass bead jewelry from Marco Polo Designs, new pieces from Zero Gravity Glass, a favorite dichroic glass jeweler;  Elaine Coyne with her brass and copper and gemstone jewelry will have new work.  Mark and Deb from Desert Heart, always a favorite around here, sent us so much work we are rearranging the gallery to get it in!!!  Joyce Fritz with Yipes! has some new experimental pieces that she hasn't even put in her line yet. On Saturday Jennifer Ionta will be here with her jewelry, plus she will be doing demonstrations on how to make lampworked glass beads.
If you are in the Minnesota area, you don't want to miss this.  If you are opening up the cabin this weekend, it will be gorgeous outside, but you can't spend the whole weekend on the lake, come here for part of it!!

A word from Tom...
Maggie Casserole
BUYING LOCAL.

If you've followed our blog, last year we ran an article "Local Pots-Local Food'
(scroll down to May 15th 2007- Be sure to click the 'Down To Earth'  link).
In these times there become many more reasons for buying local, whether it's in your own town, region, or the US. Everytime you purchase work in the Clay Coyote Gallery or Pottery, you support the Gallery, of course, but you also support artists all over North America, who, in turn, are part of their local economies.  You save gas. We make purchases in our local economy and the US.  Your individual action does make a huge difference!

ps. Maggie is really hoping we don't put that casserole in the oven!!!!
Couscous steamers
couscous steamer
Last month we were telling you about our veggie steamers.  This month you should take a look at our couscous steamers.

Paul Wolfert, cookbook author had first found us when she needed a colander to be able to steam couscous in the traditional manner.  If you have never tried her method, you should.  Find out more about how Paula does it at her website.  You will also find out more about Paula, her recipes, articles and cookbooks. Check it out!
