A study performed by University Wisconsin researches found that the Kettlebell Snatch can burn as many as 20 calories in one minute. When asked to appear on local Long Island News12 TV, we wereAs Seen on TV determined to represent ourselves and the AKC in a very pure fashion, exactly how we teach kettlebell lifting to our membership on a daily basis.  Staying to true to the Fedorenko Method and general AKC philosophy was our main goal. So when News12 wanted us to lift kettlebells on the lawn in front of their studio, I had to voice my first objection. When lifting, it's important to work on a solid surface, with shoes that provide support and traction.

AKC FITNESS LI / FITNESS CHALLENGE

SEPTEMBER 19, 2010

Are you ready to take the challenge? The first ever AKC Fitness LI, Fitness Triathlon will be held on Sunday, September 19 at AKC Fitness Long Island. There will be first place and second place prizes for both men and women.

You'll need to perform 3, six minute sets (Jerk, Snatch, Long Cycle) with one hand switch (3 minutes per hand). They'll be 2 minutes rest between sets. Set rep per minute caps are 16 rpm for Jerk and Snatch, and 10 rpm for Long Cycle. You can use different bells for each movement, but each kettlebell will be assigned a factor at 1 point for every 8 kilograms. A weight coefficient will be tallied into the final sore. World Kettlebell ClubIn this class you'll learn AKC / Fedorenko Kettlebell Technique, how to Swing, Clean, Push Press, Jerk, Half Snatch, Snatch, and Long Cycle. The finer points of the Rack, Hook Grip, and Overhead Lockout are also covered, while the Fitness Program puts it all together in an easy to follow 20-level progression. This training is only available through a WKC Master Trainer.

First Responder FitnessGET READY! Prepare your body for what inevitably lies ahead and avoid many of the inherent dangers of the job.
