I spent years creating workouts that mimic the extreme nature of firefighting. In 2006 I met Valery Fedorenko and the American Kettlebell Club and that search ended. The Fedorenko Method has changed the way I approach all exercise. Ultra high rep timed sets, with stellar level technique describes it best. The transfer of strength, endurance, speed, stamina, explosiveness to other sports is nothing short of astonishing.

Smart Lifting
I love what kettlebell lifting has done for me and everyone I've given it to, but it's not a shortcut. The people who get results are the ones who do the work. It's that simple. No work, no results. The technique, the Fedorenko Method of kettlebell lifting, is the vehicle, but doing the work is the key to sustained progress. Americans are not used to training injury free. It's commonplace for the usual shoulder, knee, back strains to slow most people way down. Not so with the Fedorenko Method. If working intelligently, you can show up day in, day out, and train intensely, but safely, never having to back away from progress because of a pinched nerve. Valery calls it, "not getting greedy", or being "professional". After almost four years of training under his tutelage, I can attest to this fact. Those who stay professional and don't get greedy, can work at ever increasing intensity levels, getting the best results possible.

Fitness Challenge Triathlon
SEPTEMBER 19, 2010

Are you ready to take the challenge? The first ever AKC Fitness LI, Fitness Triathlon will be held on Sunday, September 19 at AKC Fitness Long Island. There will be first place and second place prizes for both men and women.

You'll need to perform 3, six minute sets (Jerk, Snatch, Long Cycle) with one hand switch (3 minutes per hand). They'll be 2 minutes rest between sets. Set rep per minute caps are 16 rpm for Jerk and Snatch, and 10 rpm for Long Cycle. You can use different bells for each movement, but each kettlebell will be assigned a factor at 1 point for every 8 kilograms. A weight coefficient will be tallied into the final sore. WKC FITNESS LICENSE / next class Sunday June 27, 2010

World Kettlebell ClubIn this class you'll learn AKC / Fedorenko Kettlebell Technique, how to Swing, Clean, Push Press, Jerk, Half Snatch, Snatch, and Long Cycle. The finer points of the Rack, Hook Grip, and Overhead Lockout are also covered, while the Fitness Program puts it all together in an easy to follow 20-level progression. This training is only available through a WKC Master Trainer.

First Responder FitnessGET READY! Prepare your body for what inevitably lies ahead and avoid many of the inherent dangers of the job. Timed sets that last as long as 16 minutes mimic EXACTLY what you need. On my program the first responder gets really strong, learns to move with fluidity, recovers faster, reduces body fat, and most importantly, develops supreme cardiovascular efficiency and general health.
