The holidays are just around the corner, and we've got some great programs and events to get you into the spirit of the season!  Visit the Brambleton Center next Saturday, November 6 for our annual Craft Show and Sale from 8:00am to 2:00pm.  Shop for Christmas gifts and explore a wide variety of handmade items available from local vendors. Mark your calendars for Monday, December 6 for our annual tree lighting event at Green Ridge Recreation Center.  Enjoy carols and light refreshments, plus stay for a special visitor from the North Pole!

Our Fall recreation schedule is packed with fantastic programs for children and adults, from a loaded lineup of travel opportunities to new sessions of arts and swimming classes.  Take a look at the classes listed below and see if there's anything you want to register for.  If that's not enough to keep your family active, then why not stop by Green Ridge Recreation Center. One low daily admission rate will get you in to enjoy the indoor pool, wellness center, gymnasium and interactive game room. 
basketball-hi5Youth Preseason Basketball Clinics - November 6-7
Roanoke County's youth basketball preseason clinics are designed to teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills to children to prepare them for the upcoming recreation season. The clinics are lead by Varisty Boys and Girls coaches from various high schools while numerous high school varsity players provide supporting instruction. Each camp is limited to 75 players to allow for a camper to staff ratio of 5:1.  Information, Pricing and Online Registration

OilPaintingBasic Principles of Direct Painting - Mondays beginning Nov 8
This class is directed to intermediate painters although it is open to all skill levels. The objective is to equip you with the skills necessary to paint any subject on your own. Composition, drawing, and edges will be addressed along with the principles of light, shadow and value but the main focus will be on color - how to see it and mix it. You will paint a color chart and by the end of the course will be painting a simple still life. Five week program. Information, Pricing and Online Registration

swimminglessonsYouth Swimming Lessons - New sessions begin Nov 9
Join our new Tuesday/Thursday session of swimming lessons beginning November 9.  All classes follow the guidelines of the American Red Cross, starting at 6 months through 12 years. BiltmoreBiltmore Day Trip - Saturday,December 11
Come along for a day fit for a king on George Vanderbilt's 8,000-acre estate that will be decked out in holiday trim. We will begin the day with wine tasting and a self-guided tour of the grounds. Following that, will be an all-inclusive dinner at the Deerpark Restaurant. At the Deerpark Restaurant's Southern Holiday Buffet Dinner a preview of buffet menu items include Maple Glazed Loin of Pork, Slow Roasted Prime Rib of Beef, Spiced Poached Peel and Eat Shrimp, Brie Baked in Puff Pastry with Nuts and Dried Fruits, and many more gourmet selections.
