"MOSQUITO CONTROL MATTERS" VIDEO EARNS CONTRA COSTA MOSQUITO & VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT

TWO AWARDS

VIDEO DEPICTS SEVEN REASONS WHY MOSQUITO CONTROL MATTERS

CONCORD, CALIFORNIA - - The Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District has been named a double winner in the 2012 Communicator Awards competition. The District earned two Award of Distinctions, one each in two categories for their "Mosquito Control Matters" video depicting the seven reasons why mosquito control matters.

"It's inspiring to be recognized for a video we are extremely passionate about," said Deborah Bass, public affairs manager for the District. "There are so many important, and let's face it, not so important issues that compete with everyone's precious time. We are hopeful that this recognition ensures a greater audience who will learn about this important issue--that  mosquitoes are abundant, are often produced on private properties unbeknownst to the resident, and that they can spread disease. Clearly, mosquito control matters."

The "Mosquito Control Matters" video has been embraced and utilized by many mosquito control districts in California, by the California Department of Public Health, and by the Mosquito & Vector Control Association of California.

"The video has stunning footage of a mosquito emerging from the water, as well as an animated map depicting the spread of West Nile virus over a five-year period - just to name a few of the highlights," added Bass. "We are thrilled that our communication efforts to our residents are being recognized."
