DO NOT LET FEAR AFFECT YOUR GAME IN SPORTS

By: Stan Popovich

Sometimes, fear and anxiety can get the best of us in sports. The key is to know how to manage that fear and anxiety. As a result, here is a brief list of techniques that an athlete can use to help manage their fears and every day anxieties.

Occasionally, you may become stressed when you have to play in an important event. When this happens, visualize yourself doing the task in your mind. For instance, you have to play in the championship game in front of a large group of people in the next few days. Before the big day comes, imagine yourself playing the game in your mind. Imagine that you are playing in front of a large audience. By playing the game in your mind, you will be better prepared to perform for real when the time comes. Self-Visualization is a great way to reduce the fear and stress of a coming situation.

Otis Spunkmeyer would like to introduce their first Go - Sell - Win Seller Incentive Program that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle, which is at the heart of youth athletics. This way of life is also important to parents. With the Go-Sell-Win seller incentive program, your football team can raise lots of money with our pre-portioned cookie dough while your kids can earn fun, fitness-oriented prizes that support this philosophy.  All of the items are fun, in style and made of high quality materials that can be used at practice or even at games. Are Parents Who Allow Young Athletes To Play Contact or Collision Sports Guilty of Child Abuse?
provided by Brooke De Lench- MomsTeam

As long-time visitors to MomsTeam or readers of my blog and 2006 book know, I have always taken a somewhate expansive view of what constitutes child abuse in the context of sports.  Among other things, I have long advocated for
momsteamblue
adoption by the United States of the protections against abuse contained in the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child (the U.S. and Somalia are the only two countries that have not signed the convention), and believe that a parent or coach who knowingly allows a child to continue to play while injured, or recklessly exposes a child to an unreasonable risk of sports injury, is engaging in child abuse.

On the other hand, while I personally think Dr. Cantu's recommendation is worthy of serious consideration, I don't believe parents who allow their kids to start or continue to play collision sports before middle school are engaging in child abuse.

Here's why:
