Dehydration a Serious Problem among             Summer Campers by Lindsay Barton at www.momsteam.com.

 

Approximately 50 to 75 percent of athletes attending summer camps are significantly dehydrated according to a University of Connecticut study. mom's team 

 

The study showed that campers were still prone to dehydration even when there was availability for water or sports drinks. Once athletes become dehydrated, it is extremely difficult for them to get rehydrated due to the summer heat and humidity. The real danger of this study is that the campers in the study thought they were keeping themselves well hydrated, when they clearly were not.

YFBCA and Tackling Academy Join Hands to Make Football a Safer Sport

The Collaboration is Hailed as a Commendable Attempt to Develop A National Standard For Teaching Tackling In A Safe Way And Avoid Concussions During Practice.

 

Concussions and head injuries are very common incidents in American football. Research and studies carried out during the Tackling Academypast few years have revealed some devastating effects in the later years of a player's life. A majority of retired NFL players, who have received head injuries and concussions, suffer from depression, memory loss and cognitive problems years after the injury. Experts are of the opinion that only proper coaching for young players can make a prominent difference in rates and risks of these injuries.

 

Taking action in this regard, the Youth Football Coaches Association has recently teamed up with the Tackling Academy in order to ensure safer tackling training and coaching. Both YFBCA and Tackling Academy have always been proactive in what can be done at the youth football level to decrease the risk of concussions.
