What are the Goals for the PerAspera Prize?
|
Tomorrow, January 1, PerAspera Consulting, LLC will begin sponsoring the PerAspera Prize for Innovation In the Use of Personal Technology.
PerAspera created this prize because we believe in the power of personal technology to improve the lives of individuals
and bring prosperity to businesses of all sizes, and in all industries.
We hope that the PerAspera Prize will draw attention to the incredible and useful work being done in the area of personal technology by companies and individuals right here in the Kansas City region.
"I have always been fascinated by the history of the Ortieg Prize, which inspired Charles Lindbergh to fly across the Atlantic," says PerAspera president Brian S. Pauls, "and like millions of others, I watched with excitement as Burt Rutan and Scaled Composites won the X-Prize in 2004. I hope that, in a small way, the PerAspera Prize will help us recognize pioneers and innovators in our own community."
A panel of industry leaders will award the PerAspera Prize to a locally-owned business, or an individual, in the Kansas City metropolitan area, that offers a viable product or service based on personal technology, which has been available for use by the general public in the calendar year 2009.
Nominations open tomorrow.

Fun New Gadgets - Thermaltake BlackX Duet
|
How often do you back up your data? If you are like many small business owners, the answer is, "not often enough?"
Online back-up is a great solution--but sometimes you just want to make
a copy (or copies!) of all those valuable photos, CAD files, or audio
and video recordings, and take them home, or drop them off at the
safe-deposit box, so you can rest easily at night.
Backup tapes have always been a hassle, and removable data cartridges can be a little pricey.
That's the niche the Thermaltake BlackX Duet was created to fill. This
ultra-affordable dual-hard drive chassis allows you to turn any old
SATA drive into a removable data cartridge, for a fraction of the cost.
Such a bare-bones approach to data backup is not for everyone--but if
you are looking for a simple and cost-effective way to produce multiple
redundant copies of your most critical data, this is a solution that is
hard to beat. | |
Do you have a list of potential nominees ready to submit for consideration for the PerAspera Prize?
Keep them handy. The nomination form goes online on our Website tomorrow, and next week's InfoStream will have all the details...
(Retraction: Last week's e-zine said the nomination details would appear in the InfoStream on January 1. The form will be available on our Website starting tomorrow, but the InfoStream will not go out again until next week. We apologize for any confusion caused by our error.)
We wish you all a safe and happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Brian S. Pauls
